No Guyle I'm strickly using redneckonics here. Thinkin' that some people may understand it better. JK. I just have some trouble believing that some people actually spell so badly. In fact so bad at times I can't even make out what they are trying to say. We may all think that this is a joke but I have had many employees bring mail to me to read and when I look down and see an eviction notice its a huge reality check. Sad.

call it what you want. I could use a nice spell checker on this site. Having not completed school. Spelling has always been hard. I spend a lot of time thinking of simple words with the same meaning to express myself properly.

How about adding spell check.

Our Sport Is Tarnished By Our Poor Spelling and Usage......

Post by Richard - Sonora »

And, there are numerous examples of both on this forum. I recently saw a post from this forum which had been lifted exactly as posted and copied into an article in the newpaper. There were, by my count, 16 spelling and usage errors in this four sentence, 57 word example. Perhaps our sport is, indeed, the rightful home of "bubba", the red-neck wonder. RK

I will really stir it up. But this is one reason the U.S.A. is going downhill around the world. We used to be #1, now with the dollar dropping way below world standards, economy and school standards dropping below other countries we are in trouble, big time. All of us should strive to upgrade and get back to having respect and pride in ourselves. Work to better yourself and do everyting like you are signing your name to it, is what my father always taught me, as I grew up. Fire away men, I have thick skin. Bill K :)

Hey Bill K

Sorry brother but right now get up, get in your truck and drive to your local DMV,Corner Store,Bank,etc... AMERICA has been taken over by the Trojon Horse tactics. People come here from other countries and they bring there rude ways of life there own beliefs
We have litterly given the good ol USA away.

A short 5 years ago I could goto my local "JACK IN THE BOX" during the summer and see all american kids working for the summer I did it as a kid, I worked at Burger King till I got fired something about a girl(damn she was fine), the bathroom and the manager walking in on us  fun times :D

Anyway now you go and its adults(most illegals) one makes manager and they hire in all there family. I even read on Yahoo the teens of today are gonna have a hard time finding summer jobs!

And the exact same thing has happen in politics one educated indavidual gets in office and gets some power and he/she hires the like  and it trickles down the ladder. We are now the minorites

And if anyone needs more proof just go to Cal-Jobs or look in the paper the employers are requiring BI-LINGUAL and the pay they are offering is directly targeted at Cheap Labor!

As for the dollar when ya got millions of illegals working for cash and millions of illigals sending that American dollar EVERY WEEK to thier country to help thier families that amounts to a very large chunk of change leaving the US every day. If you want the old standards of what America use to be we gotta get it back FIRST!

Now I have no problem with a man wanting to provide a better life for his family but I do believe in doing it the right and legal way!

And nothing going to change I can prove it I was headed home one day and seen like 10 illegals standing on the corner of Home Depot in my little town of Tracy,Ca it pissed me off I called my local Tracy Police department and told them I would like to report a crime they asked what it was? I proceeded to tell them there are illegals and the lady cut me off and said what crime are they commiting ? I said they were breaking the law by being here illegally! She informed me there was nothing they could do they did not have the time money or resources to handle situations like that!!!!!

Yea I pay TAXES thats my Tax dollar at work! I am tired of paying the way for the rest of the world they have land and goverments they want a America Then Build It, a domacracy is not a hard concept to grasp! REMEMBER THE ALAMO? Davey Crockett?

Pregnate woman on fox 40 news a few weeks ago admitted women will cross the boarder illegally to have there kids here in the USA for FREE! ITS NOT FREE IDIOTS! Working stiffs like us Pay for them services and every year I gotta pay more!

Am I little upset? You bet I am I just got passed over for a job not becuase the guy was better qualified for the job but becuase he offered to do the job for 5.00 bucks an hour cheaper! I know this for a fact becuase my buddy was trying to get me the job. He was upset that his company was more worried about the $$$ then safety (remember the guy who burned down the bridge in the bay area last year?)

Sorry Bill We have given AMERICA away the days of old are behind us its a sad sad thing. OK I am done Venting

I AM GOING FISHING :D ( there, now this post is fishing related)

Hey I had a thought, When did it become "OUR" sport? Rednecks built this sport and "THE MAN" Ray Scott "Owns" it. Hell he's as red neck as they come I had the honor of meeting him at the first BASS out here on the Delta back in the mid 90's.

Rednecks skipped school to go fish and alot of them uneducated rednecks made it big Hank Parker,Bill Dance,etc... Sorry you have it all wrong it ain't the "bubba" giving it a bad image Bubba is the image. Yall want political correct BS go "GOLF" Without rednecks NASCAR,sprint cars,Bass Tournaments,Monster Trucks and rocky mountian wrangler butts wouldn't exsist. :D Naw I say if you ain't alittle redneck then your a guest to the sport and it aint polite for the quest to correct the host. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Again just a thought and I spelled it wrong probally worded it wrong but I bet yall can figure it out :D :D :D :D LMFAO

Trust me Dom when I say I'm as redneck as they come (grew up on a ranch with the nearest neighbors 2 miles away or so) but that is no excuse for spelling or grammar or ignorance for that matter. My fathers father was a college grad, both my mom and dad are college grads, my sister and I both graduated and will be followed closely by our younger brother. Just because you may live in the country with wood heat, 5 dogs, a few cows, bunch of dirt bikes, a swamp cooler, and drive broke down 4x4's doesn't mean you can't speak or spell correctly. As far as Ray Scott being our "creator" ect. you couldn't have asked for a better public speaker than him (even though bass fishing came way before him).

Correct you are, bass fishing came long before him but Not TOURNAMENT fishing and that my friend is the "Sport" of bass fishing :D

One other thing JustinD I think your taking all this alittle to hard most come in here and use slang cut loose kick there feet up its a place of escapes from all the fake corporate bull $%^&, don't matter if your blue collard or white collard we all have to put on that professional fake persona. How many times have you walked in the office and had someone ask you hows it going ? Did you tell em the truth ? or did you smile and say fine, and you?

I come in here light hearted for some good free entertainment and info as I am sure most do. So if we wanna use slang spell badly, use words out of context I say so be it.

Dont worry when we see you Monday morning at the office we will act with utmost respect and speak proper english and not stare at the book keepers butt when she bends over, But let her climb in my boat and all bets are off :D :D :D :D

Lighten up dude :D

I'm sorry but I beg to differ. I'm not much of a tourney angler but sport is in the chase for the green fish not just because you lay down some loot for a tourney. Under your reasoning anyone not involved in tournament angling shouldn't be considered a sportsmen then. Maybe you should rethink that statement. I'd love to hear from hardcore fisherpeople (without tourney experience) on this subject.

I have to deal with a bunch of college educated morons decisions all day long. The last thing I come on this site for a grammar lesson.

Bill I value your opinion, but as Dom said, this country is getting whipped from within.

Anyone can have a Google spell checker installed and it works very well on this site, if it's important to you.

I must say I resent your first statement Mike and for your info just the fact that you classified all educated people as morons puts a negative spin on your arguement and basically falls under the first rule in argumentative theory not to group. Sorry Mike but my situation is exactly opposite...maybe if the uneducated morons would step up them maybe communication would improve. Being educated is a seperate issue from spelling and grammar. Plenty of uneducated people can spell and write clearly and plenty of educated people can't but that has nothing to do with having pride in our written language. All I'm saying is that if people would read their text before sending it they might begin to read how ridiculous (and grammaticaly wrong) some of their statements are. Maybe if the future pro's on here would take a second to see why pro-anglers are pro-anglers they would realize its about marketing yourself, clear public speaking, and great fishing presence. Two of the three have to do with clear communication.

Sorry Dom but has nothing to do with my friends (who by the way are almost all bass fisherman). I realize that some of the text written is done on purpose (eg. Cooch). Thats his language I'm speakng about the person that doesn't take the time to read through a post before posting. Some of the arguments are not very well communicated but hold valid questions or statements. By the way Iafrate94505 being educated sometimes has its perks....maybe you should review the stats on lifetime earnings for college or high school grads versus non and remeber that next time you tell kids school doesn't matter.

Must of been from the other guy eating with his mouth open. If you want your sport to stay in the stereotypical realm then thats fine but I'd like the world to think of anglers as dedicated, intelligent, well versed individuals who want to put angling on the map for what it could be....All this was spawn fromk the NASCAR/PGA post asking if BASS will ever be that popular and concern for our societies communication. Know what f....it...its not fishing related and this crap always gets me in trouble with someone just forget about this post and let it go.......Mods delete this thread please.

Mike, Dom and others. I hear you and agree the country is being taken over by illeagal's. But my point is do not lower our (your) standards to that level, under or no education. Use proper spelling, grammer, etc. and rise above that class and show your pride. Some funning around is always good, hell I do it too. Mainly I try to fish and let the new world pass away around me. I too, cringe when I read how some of my buddies on this website spell. I mean, jeez, even Justin D has spelling errors and grammatical mistakes in every single one of his posts on the topic! If necessary, I can point them out. I majored in English at Cal, and have edited thousands of scripts for radio over the years, so this stuff just sticks out.
That said, who cares?
This is a great group of fishermen/women, very few of which I've had the pleasure of meeting, but over the years, I've sort of gotten to know many of you through your posts. Some of you, I know, might disagree with my politics. But none of you, I wager, will disagree with my love of this sport, and my commitment to share it with every kid I can. Even those fifty year old kids who catch a bass for the first time, and can't stop talking about it for a week until they can get back on the water again.
Do we stop associating with that uneducated uncle at the family reunion who can't spell, but who cooks the best barbecue this side of Texas? Or that aunt who pretends she's forgotten her glasses, and hands a birthday card to a youngster to read out loud because in reality, she can't read? I mean, a lot of my friends really like our president, despite the fact that he wakes up every morning, arm wrestles with the English language, and frequently loses!
JustinD, it's okay to wonder about the spelling on this board. It's probably overreaching to try to whip some of us for occasionally butchering the language. We get your point. More importantly, we want to go fishing. Lets all just agree on that, and retract our rhetorical claws. OK?

Honestly, I think the bad writing is part of the fun.

The Cooch and I have a mutual friend, that doesn't really say "Giannini". My last name ends up like this,

"G R Nanny Meany"

He doesn't mean anything by it, its just part of the fun.

Its tough to beat the Hubspinner or Cooch for river rat dialog with banjo music in the background...

Good fishing to you,

A.G.

Hey Justin D

Dont take any of this to heart, you have to really pull some bad stuff around here to get this crazy group of nutcases not to like you. Its all in fun man I wish sTony and Gator were able to save all the old post and "dates joined" from back in the NCBF days you will see I got, as good as I give and personally I think if you haven't been harrassed then you haven't been properly (gonna blow this word becuase I have no idea how to spell it) initieated to the nutcase crowd.

Somthing alot of these old timers taught me along time ago if your gonna have an opinion and post it on this public form be ready to get opinions thrown back at you. I was in my early 20's when I first came on scene I had a head as big as my ego. I got in all kinds of trouble I had a real bad problem with my mouth I did not think before I spoke. I got slammed (hell it made me famous :D ) I went thru all the emotions and where I come from (Texas) I was ready to woop everyones butt at times I took it all to serious I took it all wrong.

But with the help of guys like Cooch,KB,sTony, etc... I learned my lessons and trust me the last person you wanna go head to head with is guys like Cooch,KB :D They have more knowledge in thier pinky then most of us have in our brains. But then again when your that old your bound to pick stuff up :D :D :D :D (are them fightin words?) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Just relax and enjoy this site for what it is trust me when you meet most of these guys in person you'll see they are some real cool guys and will help ya out if in need. Anyway no harm ment just razzin ya.

As for the JOB I apprecieate it but I have buddies who drive for ready mix places and trust me I dont want any of that action no work in the winter, waiting around stressed out the load gonna set (dynamite is illegal in Ca) :D Not to metion the hours. No I paid my dues along time ago (cross country and percent loads thats a joke)

I just got a call this morning for a job a really wanted gotta interview Monday its working 4- 10 hour days on and 3 days off 4:30am-2:30pm leaves plenty of time to fish and spend with the family. Its haulin gas (Haz-Mat) local route job. HAZMAT is were the money is in the trucking industry the cheap labor has killed the reefer, flatbed, van market and I am 90% sure I got the job. So wish me luck, but again thanks your a classy dude.

Sorry guys but I just gotta chime in on this one !!!

Never learned to spell correctly. am not using speel check to edit this one , can you tell?

allways used phoneticks to do it, and just rolled down hill frome there.

Then came along spell check and now its all good. Yeah right !!!!

If I had half the brains and half the talent of Dom and Cooch in plane old country wisdom and fishing sence. I would be a friggen geniues.
With enough common sence to be on the river right now trying to earn a paycheck from our green frends. should have seen it comming in the 80's but I was ither to slow or to lazy to do anything about it > now i just grumble about it and wish i was 20 years younger.

it's just a kick in the head too me to watch the youn guns go out and play an most times whump up on me and others who think we were river rats. just lovin it to see who comes out on top !

but like i said its all good cause ther is mor than enough Delta too go around for us all and more than enough fish to share !

cept for the wake boarders, now that as different horse :P

No worries on my back Dom and I wasn't to distaught over anyone potentially disliking me (can't be welcomed by everyone). I'm here for the fishing ect.....just never realized that so many people had suck problems spelling (myself included). Go ahead bassinlee pick my posts apart. None of it is proofread or corrected and I'm love to see my errors to improve my writing. Seems like I always had tons of red marks on papers in school. As for Guy, I'm no expert but have had my fair share of delta fish and to me some people just don't have the fishing sense that others naturally do. No real reason for it but I see people fishing all the time in areas fish commonly don't live and that too baffles me. Some of it is luck, some of it is skill, but the rest is something inside yourself. Ever read the book "A River Runs through It"? Even the author of the book can see they difference just between himself and his brother (in fishing terms).

We have always taken the attitude here on the forum that spelling and grammer were not important. What is important is communication.
Do we want to discourage people from posting because they cant spell or because they use poor grammer?
Many poor spellers or gramarians know more about fishing in there little finger tham guys with a doctorate in English grammer will ever know in their whole life.
So lets not criticize them, but rather lets learn from their fishing wisdom
