Opti Oil Same as quicksilver

Post by RyanThoni »

I am having trouble finding Optimax oil in the susanville area. I called a boat repair shop today that said quicksilver is the exact samer thing just under a different label? I want to be 100% sure before I do that. I've heard switching oils after a long time of using one can cause problems. I'm on year 4 with not a single engine problem...I'd hate to ruin that streak.

Anyone know for sure?

True. I just bought a barrel of "Quicksilver" and the stuff is the same as the old barrel of "Optimax Oil". Brown in color and smells the same. I questioned my supplier and that's the way it is now.

Quicksilver is the old (way back in years) brand from Mercury marine. They, probably for sales/marketing change went to Mercury/Optimax, etc in later years. They have now went back to the old Quicksilver marketing. But it is still the same oil for your mercury engine and any other 2 & 4 stroke/cycle engine. Bill K :)
