Oroville Can we launch there

I am taking my Grandson fishing over the week end we will Camping in the area south of Oroville. I realize the fires are North of there and a lot of smoke. But can we still launch at Spillway?. And what is going on with the fishing. Thanks for any info. Just want to have him catch fish. Dan

Dan - per State Parks the Spillway ramp is still open.

Make sure you bring a resperator. The smoke is terrible.

Affirmative on the smoke. It is thicker than tule fog up here. I was there last night at a small "get together" and as Gator reported, you can launch at the spillway.....be advised though that the ramp is only two lanes right now. One spike-heady, bleach blond, wake boarder launching his floating stereo will take up both lanes.

Give yourself plenty of time and be prepared for smoking two packs of Pall-Malls if you spend the day on the water.

The fishing is good for numbers, but tough on the big bite. Look for steep walls early and deep bait later in the day.

Thanks all for your help. We are Campinng over by Oregon House at Lake of The Springs. Near Collins. But like to fish Oroville. Want my Grandson to catch a lot of fish, We are Starting early probably be off the water by noon. Thanks Again all
