BASS Elites
BASS Elites
I just read on Bassfan - BASS coming back to California 2010. Also no more co-anglers.
Re: BASS Elites
way the article makes it sound people will be able to ride along with the pro's. Sounds like they're doing the same thing the HBC does. Wonder if they'll stick cameras in the ride along hands..... or wonder if the seats in the boats will go the the company sponsors as perks.

Re: BASS Elites
As far as I'm concerned, again thanks for nothing BASS.
Now no co-anglers with the Elites, still no OPENs out west - tell me again why I care about this organization?

I am usually a very possitive person and I love to watch Skeet and our western guys do well but I am starting to lean towards StockOptions here, they trully don't seem to care about us West Coast guys so why should we care.

Re: BASS Elites
All I heard about is "what a sick lake FALCON is" and guess what no Falcon to be found on the Elite schedule? I guess not enough money in the town to bring them there again?
Gotta love FLW!!!!!!!!

Re: BASS Elites
At the Elite level it's a spectator sport so people do indeed care. They care the same way they care about the NY Yankees or Dallas Cowboys--every day folk don't have a shot at playing for either team but at the fan level, they certainly care about and root for their favorites.David Rogers wrote:I am usually a very possitive person and I love to watch Skeet and our western guys do well but I am starting to lean towards StockOptions here, they trully don't seem to care about us West Coast guys so why should we care.

Re: BASS Elites
If BASS comes back to Cali I will be the first spectator there but we are not talking about the Pro's, we are talking about the organization, I am sure the Pro's loved catching 10 lbers left and right on swim baits at Clear Lake. I spoke to a Gal that owns a RV park in Clear Lake and she had a few of the Pro's keep there RV's at her place, I asked her why they were not coming back since they broke 40 years of records there and she said they wanted more money than the City of Lakeport could afford, (This is not hear say she was at the City meeting), yep, its all about money not the fans but hey I am not against capitalism.

Take a kid fishing, and don't forget about us older kids either..
Re: BASS Elites
Still no comparison though between Bass and FLW in regards to production value. Bass is 1st rate while FLW is horrible.

Re: BASS Elites
Let me see
I don’t pay much attention to the Elite Series back East because I’m not interested is something that will not benefit my desire to Bass Fish or give me an opportune to join their ranks and compete.
I did take notice when the Elite Series came out West last Year because I knew a few of the Co-Angler fishing it.
So what is my motivation how that they will not even have Co-Anglers.
Do they offer a venue for the Western Anglers to compete or obtain access into the Elite Series for that matter any of their circuits?
No they are just coming out West to use our resources!

Re: BASS Elites
Marty,
Looks to me like there is enough money there to go without co-anglers. I always thought the co-anglers provided much of the entire payback. (excluding first place money at the Elites)
I would think with so many great anglers out there fishing from the back and the front the gripe came from the pro's ability to manage his or her fish. It is difficult to have the person in the back catch most or even the spots kicker fish. I have not recently fished an Elite from the back but the time I fished a top 150 it was tense in the boat. At one point I figured somebody was going for a swim and it would not have been me. As usual, I caved in and it cost me a good check.

Re: BASS Elites
Okay I will bite!
Seems like folks will have their own opinions anyway. lake mead big water and big wind. They actually cancelled a day due to wind. Completely backseated on day one and told what, when, how, where, why, the entire day. Day 2 cancelled due to high wind (George Cochran draw). day 3 got on a junk pile crankbait bite and had my fish on and basically pulled away so I could not even land the fish. The deal was supposed to be a learning experience and what I really learned was how not to treat co-anglers.
It actually was a valuable experience. The other two draws are current pro's and I am leaving their names off. I really would have like to fish with George. Unless the other organizations support the co-anglers and the pro's realize this (team effort) it could get bad in the lean years. Just my thoughts...

Re: BASS Elites
Well Rich, you missed out. I was fortunate to draw George Cochran on the first day of the East/West Fishoff. I'll tell you what, they don't call him "Gentleman George" for nothing. We blew an engine not 5 minutes after blastoff and lost about 2 hours or so of fishing time. It was obvious he was frustrated, and he was very apologetic about our circumstances. Long story short, even after all of that, we still had a great time on the water, and I really enjoyed the opportunity to fish with the man.

Re: BASS Elites
Rich,
I just think it is a shame not to include some of the ones that support the sport! Shlt the closest I will ever get to Elite Series would be the backseat. At least they could say thank you and start thinking of the Western Angler by bring the Opens out West.
If a western Angler does not move back East he can’t even dream of the Elite Series – there is no way to get in!
I just think it is a bad decision on their part!

Re: BASS Elites
I see. I'm sure most guys have positive experiences fishing from the backseat but it's always interesting to hear how far some competitors go to sabotage their co-anglers' fish catching opportunities...Rich hamilton wrote:Okay I will bite!

Re: BASS Elites
Good points and I believe some folks have great lifetime memories on the water during the events. I know I have. As far as the Elite stuff goes, the money and fame will influence anyone to be a little goofy. I believe if you are friendly, pay your way as well as be respectful most of the trips will be great ones. I dont plan on ever quitting my day job or changing and not supporting our great sport. I think fame and fortune can change folks. My plan is to keep cleaning toilets and chuckin and winding. I believe the FLW is the real deal, they will get my money and support.
Hey Brian, COSTCO is selling ACAI berry juice... according to my kid it is the fruit of the gods. empty 1 bottle into the ranger fuel tank and magic happens...
check out the voting poll on http://www.bassfan.com it is located on the bottom right hand margin, the results were suprising to me.
