Need help replacing cartridge bilge pump
Need help replacing cartridge bilge pump
Usually I don't have any problems replacing a bad Mayfair cartridge bilge pump, very simple job. This time, when I looked into the bilge area, the top of the cartridge (the part with the turn handle) was broken clean off, leaving me nothing to grab onto to turn the pump to get it out of the housing. Tried everything I could think of and all I have is cut up knuckles and fingers. Any suggestions or easy answers? I would hate to have to bring the boat to the shop just for this. Thanks.

If the cartridge is bad I would unhook it from power and drill 2 small holes in the top, then put two screw drivers in the holes and twist. Just an idea.

Try wrapping some rubber band around it so you can get a better grip.
