Name this A.S.S.????

Post by TEAMDEADMONEY »

On a recent offshore outing a fellow Westernbass nutcase, friend and tournament angler accidently lost his footing and sat back on this GIANT TREBLE HOOK!!!
It was then that another friend, westernbass nutcase and tournament angler who will remain nameless for now as well tried to help hooked buddy by removing the hook with a pair of pliers....with NO SUCCESS!! They then had to remove the split ring from the hook (no easy task) then have the hooked farmer of a fisherman drop his shorts so the hook could be cut. All the while another friend, and tournament angler watched and laughed his A.SS off.

Guess WHOS ARSE THIS IS???? (Nope..not mine!!) mines far prettier then his hairy bloody wreck!!. What a farmer!!

Phil , AL and Rex went out fishin and Phil sat back on that nasty hook. AL then though it was his duty to remove the hook while Rex sat there and laughed. They also used the string technique with no success... the hook had to be cut.

GOOD TIMES!!!

Luckily I'm right brained, and it went into the left cheek, so no harm done. By the time Al and Rex had yanked on it 2 - 3 times, with pliers and fishing line over a 15 minute period, my a$$ was so numb that pushing it through wasn't nearly as bad as you would think. The best part was Al yanking on it with line and me thinking he got it out only to have him say "oh, sorry bro, the line slipped out of my hands, let me try it again I almost had it". At least Al was nice enough to clean it up and massage it for me afterwards. Needless to say I'm putting a heavy duty pair of dikes in the first aid kit. I'm glad I could at least lighten the mood on the website, Phil

And the fish report!

Post by Al M »

Did some trolling for no love with occasional foamers of tuna around.hit numerous pattys with 1000's of dorado that all had lockjaw. Finally found a patty holding some yellows and Rex hooks one on the Iron.Hit another one for a couple yellows one on bait and one on the iron.

On the way in we made a pass through the middle grounds at the Coronados and I scored a healthy 24# beauty.

Headed for the barn at 5 for a long day with lots of laughs at Farmers expense.Going back on Friday in the Putty Tub unless I hitch a ride with another pal.

If I know Phil like I think I do, the hook would've waited. 8)

Sorry to hear of your incident dude, but it sounds like you have one good friend there.

BTW: Thanx for all the Way Points. Went out to the 302 and 425 yesterday. That boat has some range, brother.

Good luck with your recovery, and don't get lockjaw.

Later,
James

Had a nasty incident with a treble hook myself last Sunday... thankfully it wasn't in the hind end, but it was bad enough as it was.

I went out to DVL and threw a spook for quite some time in the morning for nada. Caught fish on everything else I threw after that, so was determined to get a spook fish before I headed off the lake. I got a couple of casts off, and about the third cast I had a blow-up and waited for it to load up. The fish was about 3 1/2 pounds and hooked really good, and I was using 65# braid, so when I got it next to the boat I lifted it up by the braid with my left hand and started to reach for its lip with my right... right about that time the fish thrashed and impaled my right ring finger with the Owner 3X near the middle of the first pad of the finger!

I sat in shock for a few seconds while what happened sunk in, and about that time my phone in my pocket rang. Couldn't get to it at the time, as I was still trying to determine what the heck I was going to do, then remembered that Hub Spinner was supposed to be on the lake and I hadn't heard from him yet.

I figured the first thing I had to do was get the fish off, as it was still pissed off and thrashing about, so was able to get the hooks out of his jaw and side of his face, then dug the phone out of my pocket. Gary had called, so I called him back and explained my predicament. He was across the lake from where I was, so I asked him to come and help do the braid removal procedure.

By that time, I noticed that the hook point had finally been driven through and I had a nice exit hole about 1/4" from the entrance hole, so I pushed it the rest of the way past the barb and grabbed my dikes (always keep a pair handy!), cut off the end and backed the hook out. Right about that point Gary pulled up and we had a little laugh about it!

Thanks Hub for coming to my aid, and thanks for not blasting me here on the forum with my stupid angler story!!! First time in all my years that I've been actually hooked.

Roger

Phil,

I thought you would have learned from Johnny G's and mine outing on Pyramid when I got him through the ear and we didnt have a strong enough pair of dykes to cut the barb. Had to troll over to some catfisherman with that 3/4oz revenge spinnerbait flailing in Jhonny's ear.

It was worth every bit of pain. In fact Ash, Johnny Utah may be coming down this weekend for a wide open salt water bite. Nothing like hooking 20 pound Yellows and Dorado on spooks, iron and spoons.
James, glad to here the old boat is getting put to the test. That thing sure did handle the rough stuff well. We were down at the 425 last Sat, and are headed back to the 302 on Friday since gerry jig said the bite went crazy stupid yesterday at the 302 and 9 mile bank. While I love the green backs, this is a nice departure from drop shotting in the heat for 5 bites, Phil
