Don't use Mend-It on Kamakazee Treats Swimbaits...
Don't use Mend-It on Kamakazee Treats Swimbaits...
I put one of their smaller 4" Ayu swimbaits on a scrounger head. Put some mend-it on the nose of the bait that got spread open while inserting it onto the scrounger head, to hold it in place correctly. I literally saw the plastic start to seperate and dissolve before my eyes. Looked like warm water being poured onto an ice cube. It left a giant hole at the nose of the bait. The bait was trashed and unusable. A costly lesson at 12bux a pack...ARRRGGGGHHHH...@^#%$!(#$*($(

Hope other companies don't steal this formula.

Mend-It is not the right product to glue a plastic bait of any sort to metal, wood or other materials. Only plastic to plastic. For this kind of stuff you need to use a super-glue type product.
Mend-It works great on Kamikazee baits - I just tried it here in the office to make sure.
P.S. The reason the bait tore was because Mend-It essentially melts the plastic - so you stretched a melting bait which made it melt right through the bait. Also note, the bait wasn't ruined. All you had to do was pull the bait off the hook and fix the hole with Mend-It... Let it dry for a few and then re-rig the bait. You'd be back in action.

Try and use mend it sparingly to fix your tears and glue it in layers if it is deep. Let the deepest layer dry first and then mend the top portion. I love mend it and use it every trip on my soft swimbaits. It saves me major dollars on baits!!!! I have noticed that if you use major quantity of mend it, it melts plastic and takes a long time to dry. Try to use a little bit at a time and experiment with it as you mend stuff. I now save all of my torn beavers and senkos that fall off the hook and dont stay in proper position when casting. I glue them at home and put them back on the floor in my boat for my next trip. Works good on power worms too! Great product.

I never torn or ripped any of my beavers. I've lost a few however. I'd like to see how you put them on. Sometimes after a good jerk I just pull it out and they are gone. My first one lasted for 20 fish. Not very good luck since.185vsfrog wrote:....I now save all of my torn beavers....

Tom....
I hear ya dude....I'm used to the old school Pro's soft bait glue...Which you COULD do this with, worked as a super glue and plastic bait mending agent. I've never had this issue while repairing torn plastics with mend it. So what you're saying is logical...just wish I didn't have waste baits to figure this out...Your product is still all good w/ me...

Hey Alex - no worries. I was just hoping to save those baits for you. If they are still around you can fix them up!
It's not my product any longer - but, I still like it! Use it all the time.
As for the beavers coming off - I know what you mean. Grass Stalker just designed a jig to my (and Jeff Billings') specs and it will hold your beaver on 5X as long. We are expecting them to arrive here in the next few weeks. I will make a little video to show how well it works! You'll use 1/4 the amount of beavers!
I am sure Jeff will be selling them in his store too.

Re: Don't use Mend-It on Kamakazee Treats Swimbaits...
All joking aside, I flip and punch with 4:20 and 5:20 sized beavers in the delta all of the time. When I am flipping deep into tullies all day, sometimes the beavers get tore up and start to fall down from the eye of the hook and also the hook point starts to easily shoot through the bait after a couple fish. I will take the beaver off, put a brand new one on and save the used one for gluing at home. U must have had some great luck to catch 20 fish on one beaver. I easily ran through a pack of 4:20's on the delta in my last club tourney (probably flipped at least 15 that day). They are only good for a couple of fish for me...........By the way pro soft bait glue is just like super glue and is good for gluing plastic to lead heads or wood etc. It mends plastic but makes it hard as a rock and ruins the bait. Just my two cents.
