I wouldn't put anything but Quicksilver / Merc in there. Especially if you are still under warranty.

i'm not sure about the newer motors but I own a 98 150efi and i heard plenty about only use quick silver. After my one year warrenty was over I use various oils as long as they were rated tcwlll I think is the code. i used TEXACO, PENZOIL, AND ONE THAT WALMART SOLD IN A WHITE PLASTIC BOTTLE. i BELIEVE i ALSO USED CHEVRON

Take this for what its worth

I have a uncle who has been in the racing and auto repair for over 35 years, his advice on oil for any engine

always stay with one brand of oil no matter what! an engine is broke in with a certian type oil, and the detergents and additives are part of every oil formula, your engine gets use to that formula

I have never had a major engine oil related problem, and I have used several brands, but I always stick with that same brand in the same engine, I have gone as far as draining the oil in a new car to put penzoil in it and stuck with it for the life of the car

For My boat I use the optimax oil and I will stick with it.

Like I said take it for what its worth

The reason I use optimax oil is because it is formulated to atomize with the fuel during the direct injection process. All the other oils are meant to be mixed with the fuel prior to being used. I will always use the opti oil in my opti....Oh yeah by the way I own a opti again.

OPTILUTLY Mark. Not enhance rather that oil is engineered for that specific aplication. If I remember right during the tourture test at lake X Mercury used all oils and found the one with the opti/dfi oil was running cooler at the end of the test than at the beginning. Some oils failed altogether with catastrophic results. Don't ever pinch a penny on oil.
