1ST ANNUAL DELTA BROWN BAG BASS TOURNAMENT
WOW-What a great day we had out on the Delta for the 1st Annual Delta Brown Bag Tournament. We had a total of 24 boats show up for our first special event. Every boat under went a check for those hidden baits that were still in the boat. Few baits were found and the all clear was given. We blasted off at safe light with everyone wanting to know what was in the bags. The secret bags were tossed into each boat as they passed the dock for blast off. The wind was up a little and there was a slight chill in the air for this short day of fishing. Everyone was hoping the bite would be up from the previous week. The one thing that was for sure, each participant was going to have to put their game into high gear to bring in the winning weight. With all bags being the same it was going to be left up to the most creative and a little luck. We had two flights for the day. With the first flight coming in at 12:30 pm we were looking forward to seeing what the day had held for these fisherman. John Braziel from Toad Thumper Jigs came out to watch the weigh-in and to see how his jig held up out on the Delta. Ribeye Meats was all set up for the BBQ provided by Road Side Safety. Every participant was given a hardy helping of Tri-Tip, Baked Beans, Ceazer Salad, roll, and a drink. The table was set for the 50/50 raffle. Dela Baits worked hard and provided us with over 60 prizes to be raffled off. We had everything from a Bed and Breakfast, T-shirts, and dinners from Lodi to baits from Dela Baits. Jayden Bryant from Sacramento was awarded a brand new reel from Tom Budesilich for being the youngest participant at the age of 7. Jayden was also one of our biggest raffle winners with his number being called over 6 times. You might see Jayden doing some shopping at C & C Marine with his $25.00 gift certificates he won. I know he had a great time. The last and final draw was for the $205.00 in cash which was won by a young spectator. The young spectator came to get his cash with the crowd coaxing him to put it in his pocket. He was giving it the all American try but mom was quicker. We know she’ll put it away for safe keeping. Well, it was time to get the weigh in started. The Toad Thumper Jig was working hard for the teams of Hayashi & Hinkle with 12.99 lbs, and Bryant and Bryant with 11.67 lbs. The East Delta Director Greene with his partner Seaters came out and tried his luck with the West Delta boys and came up with a 11.06 lb bag that was caught using the Toad Thumper Jig and the Spinnerbait from Revenge Baits. The team of Budesilich and Santos were happy to have found the pack of Tru-Tungsten worms for their 4.50 lb fish. Thomas and Dagnino caught their 4.84 lb Big Fish on the 3/8 oz Chatter bait provided by Fisherman’s Choice. The remaining bag was caught on the Senkos provided by Dela Baits to give them a total of 10.56 lbs. Wassenberg and Soper were another team that used the Senko from Dela Baits for their 7.13 lb bag. Hines and Parsms brought in their Dela Baits Senko Big Fish of 7.43 lbs with their bag of 14.27 lbs. Schwab and Harris were trying their luck with the Spinnerbait from Revenge Baits for their catch of 3 fish totaling 5.27 lbs. The Alph Hawg from Open Water baits was used to bring in the 14.89 lbs bag for the team of Thompson and Cordiale and the 4.27 lbs bag of 2 fish for the Wilson Team. Sorenson & Schroder with 16.43 lbs and the Sakata team with 17.49 lbs said they used everything in the bag. From blast off to check in they tore through their Toad Thumper Jig, the Revenge Spinnerbait, the 5â€
