Running a Merc 4 blade 17p prop now on an Opti Max 150 - is there a better fit out there?
Seems when backing off the throttle, we are off plane rather quickly and taking water over the transom - there is no gradual slow down off plane. Very abrupt with bow high attitude.
The boat is heavy, and we are portley.... And from previous answers to unrelated engine problem, rigging was brought into the equation. I guess the poor performance on the hole shot (6-8 seconds to get on plane), and abrupt slow down can be related to the rigging as well?? Or is it a prop issue?
Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Best Prop for '08 Ranger 178VX?
Re: Best Prop for '08 Ranger 178VX?
Boat should have came from Ranger factory with a 21p Revolution 4 blade prop. Was the 17p on there standard? Also if boat was rigged at factory the engine should be at the correct height. Rick G.

The fury is made in 24 - 26 pitch models only. I wish we had smaller.
