You gotta be kidding me?
Out of curiosity I did 5 minutes of research comparing Barack Obama to Sarah Palin and how any of you could compare the experience of Obama to Palin is beyond me.
Try pulling up both these candidates up on Wikepedia and read about the two (unless Wikepedia is a liberal leaning rag like anything else that speaks the truth).
Palin was elected as Mayor of a town with a population of less than 7,000 people. On the other hand Obama graduated Harvard Law School, was editor of the Harvard Law review and later elected president of the Harvard Law review. Obama also has 7 yrs in the Illinois State legislator and 3 yrs as a United States senator.
You guys should not embarrass yourself by saying Obama does not have enough experience but yet Palin does.
Have you ever noticed how the republicans must have the likes of Lush Rimbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Beck, and O'reilly preaching to you on talk radio? Do you know why you right wingers have so many more republican talk shows than the dems do? The reason is simple, republicans are brain washed. That's right I said brain washed. You need these people feeding you false information to make you feel good and to put it like Hannity, to make you feel like a great american.
The truth is that if you actually listen to these shows you would know that the information is slanted at best and out right lies and falsehoods most of the time. You guys take your q's from a drug addict like Lush or a sex addict like O'reilly, or a hate monger like Hannity or just a plain idiot like Savage?
On the other hand dems have few choices for talk radio which is fine because most dems can actually see what is happening in this country and the world without the likes of Lush explaining it to us. We see when things are not right and the economy is in the tank, the housing market is belly up, unemployment is up, record gas prices and record profits for the oil company, stock market down and on and on......... We don't need Lush to tell us how great things are and how great the republicans are for this country when we see the country falling apart before our very eyes.
What do these things have to do with Palin? All these people I mentioned except maybe Savage have acted like Palin is the savior of the republican party. They are saying this to make you, the republican faithful all giddy and happy.......they are in affect brainwashing you. If they keep telling you how good things are with republicans in control hopefully you will believe it and be blinded by the truth and that truth is that your party has run this country into the ground.
I am sure that there is not many people on this board (if any) that can truthfully say that this country or themselves is better off now than they were 8 yrs ago. Lush and his cronnies will say how great things are and how Palin will change the world for you conservatives but it is not true and you and I know it.
Fess up now that your hope for the future (Palin) is a terrible pick and your choice for president has screwed up again with his maverick choice.

Re: You gotta be kidding me?
I'm not kidding you. I'm better off now than I was 8 years ago. And I would be even better off if the U.S. would elect McCain/Palin and a honest house & senate to help them, help America.
Its not time spent, but what was done while spending the time.
Stand up and say present. If you can do that you can stand in for Obama at just about every vote taken while he has been a senator.
If your going to mouth off at least put your name on it.

Oh this one is too easy...
Actually Wiki is, legally, no longer considered a source of credible information. Much of whats put out by Wiki is provided by the public and not verified.
Yes, I do. Its because the right relies on facts, where the left relies on... well, nothing! You guys tried radio (remember Air America) and it failed miserably because your positions are not factually defensible.FishaHallic wrote: Do you know why you right wingers have so many more republican talk shows than the dems do?

That would make him LESS qualified in my book. All we need is another trial lawyer in Washington.FishaHallic wrote:On the other hand Obama graduated Harvard Law School, was editor of the Harvard Law review and later elected president of the Harvard Law review.
Eight years ago I was living in a one bedroom apartment, recently divorced, with no job and a car that didnt run. Today I own several businesses, have new vehicles that are PAID for, and live in a 3400 sqft new home. Yeah, I am WAY better off and it didnt have anything to do with George Bush. If you are relying on the next president to make you successful, then you will always be a disgruntled loser.FishaHallic wrote:I am sure that there is not many people on this board (if any) that can truthfully say that this country or themselves is better off now than they were 8 yrs ago.

Personally I think if one would have to have 3 or 4 jobs as you stated before than maybe your not doing the right jobs. It's funny though, I have 1 job and my wife has 1 job and we are doing alright. Now I only have a new 4/3/3 with 2700 + sq ft but then again I am not as vain as you.

Well, are you saying that the facts in Wikepedia are not true. That Obama was not in the Illinois State Senate for 7 yrs or United States Senator for 3 yrs. Or was it the fact that Obama was the editor of the Harvard Law review that is not true.
Maybe your saying that Palin was not Mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, or that she was not the governor of a state with less population than most big cities?
I did not mention all the things I read in Wikepedia like how Palin ran rough shot over her employees or how she got huge pork barrel spending money for her city.
Just read the facts and tell me if anything I said about Obama or Palin is wrong other than the fact that she is not qualified to wash Obamas shorts.

It is amazing that so many liberals reference that Obama's college and working on the school paper was any sort of experience. The only way you are going to convince independents to switch is by listing every bill he authored(not the ones he signed on to), every piece of legislation he passed with a yes vote or defeated with a no vote. Going to college and working in the ghetto with ACORN are not experience for any office. Running a campaign is not either. Please give us a factual list. Thank you.

Re: You gotta be kidding me?
Your question was whether we can truthfully say that the country OR ourselves were better off. Well I told you that I am better off... now I will tell you that the country, in many ways, is also better off.Dave wrote:I am sure that there is not many people on this board (if any) that can truthfully say that this country or themselves is better off now than they were 8 yrs ago.
After 8 years of Clinton, the military was gutted. Our equipment was outdated, the moral was low, retention was low, etc.
Today we again have the best equiped, best trained, and most feared military in the world. While you do not realize or appreciate this, it does make this a safer place to live.
The US is also "greener" than it was 8 years ago. We re now finally talking about alternative energy sources and getting off foreign oil.
Really, the only area where we are not better off is in the economy. I attribute much of this to the war in Iraq and the price of oil. Whether you agree with the war or not... we were attacked on 9/11 because Clinton did not have the intestinal fortitude to deal with Bin Laden when he had a chance.
If 9/11 had not happened, I suspect that we would not be in this economic situation at all.
So I guess my point is that there is a lot of blame to go around. This country is very resilient and we will recover.
CHANGE is not a destination, and HOPE is not a strategy!
Re: You gotta be kidding me?
I'm certain that I'm NOT better off now then I was 8 years ago and I'm not sure that I can outlast the current congress and president and make my circumstances any better. I'm also not sure that either of these bozos running for president can have a positive impact thats going to change the direction of my life, my business and so on. I feel that way because I haven't heard either of them talking about anything with any substance that's going to allow for a big change.Rod Martin wrote:I'm better off now than I was 8 years ago.
The euro and the yen and so on are stronger then our dollar. Our Stock Market is weaker then several others. Our dependence on foreign oil seems unlikely to change under either administration or congress. These bimbos have been talking about health concerns for so long but the situation keeps getting worse. Each year more and more good paying jobs are replaced with minimum wage jobs that offer no benefits. If you hang around with one company long enough you tend to see your job exported offshore or get replaced by some snot nosed kid who doesn't have to earn what you need to put your kids through college and so on. The value of my home has dropped significantly and many folks are way upside down on their mortgages with little to no hope of relief.
I could care less if the military was gutted. What do we need a huge military for anyway? So we can further step all over the world to push our beliefs on everyone else? At what cost does this stop making sense? Instead we're now spending billions annually to fight some BS war and the only result of this mess is we'll likely have to maintain a presence their forever and that the powers that be that invested fortunes in halliburton and so on can get richer and richer.
There is no way I'm better off then I was 8 years ago. Absolutely no way. My parents likely are, but I most certainly am not. The notion that the country is better off is evidence of someone smoking WAY too much of something really strong. Ask my neighbors if they're better off and I know what you'll hear. They're all fighting to keep themselves and their families afloat right now.

Re: You gotta be kidding me?
I bought my first house in 1971 paid $11,000.00 , sold for $12,000.00, thought I did well. My second home I bought for &21,000.00 in 1975, I looked it up a few days ago. Its worth about $65,000.00 now. My house in Ripon was bought in 1998 for $217,000.00 and at that time the housing market was slow. During the height of the boom it was valued at $600,000.00. Now its at about $350,000.00 maybe. The housing market is about where it should be now. What drove it up. Investors buying and flipping, new loans that allowed people that should not have been buying to get into a home. Finance people that exploited the market. Builders that marked up as fast as they saw people would pay it.
We the people that jumped in and bought the houses caused the bubble. And in the end we will be the ones to pay for it. Lord knows the big guns will get bailed out.
Now pull our armed forces out from anyplace outside of the U.S.
Works for me, They can stay here and after fighting everyone that hates us, They will be able to go home on weekends. Because we still be at war, it will just be a lot closer.[maybe thats what we need if we survive we may be stronger as a nation] If not ,at least we wont have to worry about voting, or the gov. and seperation of church & state.
You can say what you want. WE have NOT been hit inside the U.S. since Sept.11 2001
So much for rambling. My .01 cent worth

Re: You gotta be kidding me?
I am most definately better off in many ways. Family income is up. House value is up. .. (from 8 years ago, NOT including the ridiculous unfounded spike we are recovering from) ... but I do not hold the government responsible for me being better off. That is up to me.
Rod - to add to your comments on the housing spike.... Some cases of these foreclosures are due to pure stupidity and greed. I am watching people I know losing their house after refinancing and blowing their equity on 40k in home electronics, plus two new cars, all new furniture, etc. This is the same person who told me I was crazy for not doing it because it was "free money".

Yes, I have really listened to him and to his credit he will come out against what the republicans have done but he is still a republican at heart.
When someone goes off on the deep end from time to time it is hard to listen to him without thinking about what an idiot he is. Yes, on some things I agree with him just like I agree with some things the republicans do. All in all though I am still a dem
