New carpet
Just a short note and recomendation, any one that is wishing to have your boat look like new again get hold of Gary Watts, he did a fantastic recarpet on my ranger boat, came back looking lke it just got in from the manufactuer, turn around time super and I felt his cost was very resonable. Thanks to the people on this board that suggested him

Any day on the lake is a great day
Re: New carpet
Yeah, Send it to Gary.
I just finished recarpeting my Ranger last nite and what a job. Next time it's going to Gary. It was way more work than I ever thought it would be. I should have been out fishing instead of scraping all that old glue off

Re: New carpet
Just curious about how detailed the job was? I'm going to be needing to re-carpet my '95 Chamapion 19 foot Elite sometime in the future. The boats carpet is all thru the storage lockers as well as around the gas tank & batteries. How much did you spend & how detailed was the job???? Clay
Re: New carpet
Gary did my 482 VS, total recarpet job, I was just a yard short when I ordered the carpet from Ranger so up under the two consols, out of sight tho, did not get the fresh stuff, Gary said if I wanted he would take care of it no charge if I get the carpet not that bad so I will not even worry about it. I can tell ya that the price was good for the amount of work on my boat, but different ones could be more or less depending on what you want, give him a call, he will treat you right

If you are going to do it yourself here's the lowdown -Top'r wrote:Just curious about how detailed the job was? I have a duel console Ranger 488VS (20'). I ordered the carpet from Bass Cat boats, 6' wide by 25' long cost me $190 shipped to the Bay Area. I spent about another 100 for outdoor carpet glue, contact cement, lots of razer bladed and new pop rivets....
The total labor for removing all of the hardware, scraping/grinding off all of the old glue was about 30 hours. I was anal about it and removed every last spec of glue. I don't think most shops would take it that far.
The install of the new carpet was easy. Measure twice and cut once. This was my first time carpeting a boat and I enjoyed laying the new carpet. I only had to carpet from the bow to the seats. The back deck was new when I bought the boat in February. If you send Bass Cat and email they will send you carpet samples of the colors they carry. Great guys and shipping was 1 week from when I ordered it.
Bass Cat sells a 24oz carpet and is the best bang for the buck. Even though the color matches it's a lot higher grade than the back deck.
If you like I'll post pics of the new carpet. If you have any other questions send me an IM and I'll help you out.
Re: New carpet
I recarpet the boat myself and took my time and it took me alittle over aweek to do it working on it acoupal hour aday or less.. I started with one compartment at a time. Made the mistake of using indoor/outdoor carpet. When I get ambitous again i'll use the boat carpet as it's abetter quality material.
Use your old carpet as a temp plate to cut out the pattern. Good idea if possible to buy size bigger than your boat as you don't want to come out short.

Hey Fish with Ron 2,
I sounds like a no brainer but I would not have thought of using the old ones for a temp plate. If I ordered the kit already cut out, would it be that much more $?

Didn't know you can order it precut. I measure the amount I needed like for the compartments, front deck, floor and backdeck. So I bought it cut in 4 sections. It's easier to work with small sections than one big roll.
You can drill out the rivits and use screws for the chrome piece.
