Delta. Where to launch.

Post by fire_slyr »

I live in Newman CA (its in the central valley approx 45 min south of stockton) and i am looking into going fishing in the delta. Ive never fished it before and was wondering if anyone knows of any good launching points close to where i live. Thank You for your input.

Agree on Ladds. Several lanes. Fenced-in parking. $13.00 on weekends. Another option is Paradise Point off 8 mile rd. 2 lane. Parking a short hike away, but you are in fishing waters when the boat leaves the trailer.

I lost a brand new spare tire & wheel (one day old) from my trailer at Ladd's. The "security" at the gate could not have cared less. Make sure everything is locked up & secure.

Rivers End. By far the closest to you and very safe. Been launching here for years and zero problems ever. Could probably even hit Ty up in the store for some local info. Rivers End is off Byron Hwy. Just take 5 north to 580 to Mt. House Prkwy. Turn north to Byron Hwy then west 2 miles.

Tracy Oasis is your better bet, and may be closer and easier to get to and out of. Take the 205 to Tracy Blvd and go north, there will be boat launch signs on the way.

Or google map it and do the street view.

Ah heck, any of the places mentioned here is worth a visit!! Do em all! :D

Good luck!

The Oasis is fine if you plan on fishing up river from there....But Rivers end is way closer and has access to the north (without running down Grantline Canal) as well as anything up river. If your by yourself River End is way easier to launch from. The current up at the Oasis makes it hard to be a loner like myself.
