I like to throw my spook type baits on 30# SpiderWire Stealth.

I use 30 or 50 lb braid (Power Pro) and throw it on a Loomis crankbait rod.

50lb spiderwire stealth, last ten feet blackened with a marker, on a 6'6" MH fast taper.

I throw 17 to 20lb test Stren Easy Cast Mono. You want a line that will not sink on you due to the long casts you make with the spook. If your line sinks, then you will not be able to work the spook very well, the nose of the spook will tend to dive on you.
