Delta wins again!

Post by TrackerMan »

Dropped in at Sunset Harbor this morning. Fished Sand Mound, Taylor and Dutch today. Came home with the skunk. Threw black-n-blue jigs, brush hogs, senkos and cranked for a while. Fished rocks, tule thickets and the secondary weed line. Nothing. Not even a legitimate bite. Just a tough day! Blessed with a great day temperature wise, but the fish were incredibly tough.

Anyone have any luck today?

It was BRUTAL out there today !!

There was 11 or 13 Teen's that participated in the Delta Teen Tourney today ... and I believe the winning weight was #3+ for either 2 or 3 fish.

Today was one of those days I call "Eathquake Weather" ~~ No Joke ..... We did not even see a bird fly today ! (other than the Coots in Franks.)

And driving home from Clear Lake after 4 days/3 nights ..... I was looking foreward to getting some "REAL" fish again today.

I did mostly just play with the CL bite from Yesterdy today on the Delta to see if it workes/would of worked the same ..... I got prolly 30+ Stripes today up to #4 out of boredom cause I forgot to pick up a Sunday paper-- and only one LM up to 13".

-- But it beats only boating one personal fish for 3 days fishing at CL .... Other than a #12 Catfish that I thoguht was gona put us "possibly" in any money on Saturday to help recoup some cost !! Image
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

The last two days have been that way! There has to be a lesson out of this, I just don’t know what it is! The fish are not even talking!

At least the Teen's had a great and safe time today out on the water - And that is all that really matters ~!! :D

The DTT ran short of boaters for their last tourney of the year till '09 starts in Jan for the 2and 1/2 of their tourneys. If anyone is interested in taking two teens out from daybreak till 1200-1300 ~ Please let us know.

There is a new President and he is VERY EXCITED -- and a VERY EXCITIBLE VISIONARY of where he wishes to lead the club. ~~ But to make this what he wishes ... He needs volunteers and people with the love of just taking kids out fishing.

I can honestly day I learnd SO MUCH in boating for them in just watching/participating ~ and at many times successful on the water they alreay fished while in the very back seat using a different method than they were to figure out the bite "togther". (One gets a fish -- they all sort of switch to the same ..... It is a "Competive" thing between them all !!

If you would like to be even a Guest Speaker for their monthly's in Oakley at Round Table. THEY WOULD LOVE IT !! Anything you have to offer for these Teens in your time of fishing and style/what you have learned and how you learned it.

These Teen's can learn alot from everything here on WB that has their support, guest speakers and volunter boaters for their tourneys and taking them to different areas/style they have possibly have never even fished before ... and helping them get to State and Nationals.

Side Note -- Their meetings are the 2and Tuesday of the month, and Tourneys the 3ard Sunday's of the month. They had to postpone their tourney for some reasons - till they could have it this Sunday.

But if anyone is interested in sharing a morning/afternoon weigh-in. You get a free launch from Russo's Marina and $30 towards fuel/oil to use inside the boundry limits.

This prolly should be a seperate thread -- But I was just sharing ~ "THE TRUE RICHES OF TODAY" in this post ..... AND thus -- The Delta Did Indeed Put Out Again Today For The Teens in Memories, Learning and Sharing !! :D

A couple of teen's got some new Eye Surenders that were donated by Eye Surrender to the winners of each of the two age groups. The smiles they were sporting wearing that swag == FOR A SMALL BAG EVEN ....... How "Priceless" is that. 8)

Trackerman,

Not to put you down, but did you see the Angler's Choice results. 27 pounds won it. Of coarse the winners were the Rossetti's again. They practically live on the Delta. In the past two days, I've been finding alot of action on crankbaits as the tide starts to come back in. My buddy killed them last week with 26 lbs. The point is you must put your time in if you want to have any chance to be good on the Delta. I've been fishing on the Delta for about 4 years and my usual weight is about 15 lbs. My friend has multiple double digits as a result of 10 plus years of experience on the Delta. He has his 14 lber skinned over to prove his success. Go back out there next weekend and you may have one of those days where everything goes right and you're just spanking those bass. Goodluck

Ya man thats kinda the drift I got from some people yesterday. I went striper fishing but caught almost as many bass as i did striper. Got one on a big pencil poper and the rest on everything from fish traps to rattle traps. Im not a delta rat so i dont know but maybe they r feeding with the stripers?... Would be interseted to see what yall think

Delta Dan,

Myself and other members of the River City Bass Masters from Sacramento have previously participated as boaters for the Delta Teen Team tournaments. It was a lot of fun.

Have the president contact me and I'll see if we can provide some boats for their upcoming tournaments.

Getting back to the original post, YES the Delta is tough right now and has been for over a month. There are a few patterns going on right now but most of the "normal" stuff is not working. If you think you can go to Franks and flip the tullie berms with a jig or senko to catch 5 keepers, you are wrong. Things have changed and different things are happening out there. The lack of weeds and addition of a whole bunch of Stripers small and large has changed things. My club went out this weekend and half the guys had 0 to 3 fish. The other half scratched a limit and winning weight was under 11 lbs. I even saw some of the A/C Pro Team guys come in with small sacks. It is tough but those who are in the know are still on fish. Yes there is some truth to Largemouth feeding with the stripers. I will be out there with you and others trying to figure it out myself. Hopefully the change of weather continues and we start to see a good bite again. If not, at least the striper action is still awesome!

No problem. Thanks for the response. You're right....it's all about time on the water. I'm not giving up. I just like to hear what everyone else saw out there on Sunday. Keep fishing!
