Gas at $1.89 a gallon

Post by Rick G »

in Missouri. Just talked to Art Berry who is driving back to Ohio and just filled up near Springfield, MO. Still wailting here for diesel to get below $3.00. This is one time we need things to start in the East and move West. But it is going in the right direction at least. Rick G.

1.89 NICE - the pump showed at 2.87 here in Sac and I started to get giddy. The big question is do I fill up everything now or keep waiting?

My friend in Dallas said she got gas for $2.39, and that was last week. I think it down to around $1.99 in Houston...

Hey Rick, How come ANGLERS didn't bulk up on that $.12 / gal. Venezuelan gas this Summer? Buy a new boat and two years free gas would have been SWEET!

hey Rick since gas prices are coming down does that mean you are going to lower the cost of outboard oil now ? It went up when the market went up, so i would presume it is on a downfall?

I don't anticipate the price of Outboard oil to go down anytime soon. Depending on the price we purchased the oil at, which is definately higher than what it's now, you will not see a decrease in the short term future.

I had a feeling i knew the answer to this.

So how far out do you guys do your buying? With the market being so cheap right now would'nt it be beneficial to load up right now on cheap oil? How much inventory do you have to burn in order to be cleared to buy new product? A company as large as Mercury has to see the benefits of buying low right now. It would be stupid not to.

Oil is getting more and more scarce, and bring more online, even proven reserves like up in Alaska, is a matter of many years.
And the oil companies are buying up the alternative fuel companies, and playing the oil prices so they're always just a little cheaper than renewables, to discourage a change and so they can sell their oil down to the last drop.
They don't give a rat's patoot if our economy tanks, and doesn't transition away from oil until it's too late, which it may already be. All they care about is selling their oil, and making sure there's a market for it.
Look for gas prices to go up after the election, and keep going up again.
Less product and higher demand equals higher prices.

The real answer John that in order to keep paying my 7 figure salary, Mercury must keep the price of oil as high as possible.

hahaha you have always been a cheap date. I don't buy that. My original question should have been how far out do they do the pruchasing? Is it a short enough span to where you guys can capitalize off lower prices or are you locked into a contract that loads you guys up for the whole year?

Yes, gas prices were GREAT under the current administration we should just scrap the election and keep Bush Cheney in office.

I paid $2.899 for Diesel at the 57 and Orangethorpe in Placentia when I left your store Wednesday. The Unocal station on the corner of Kraemer and Orangethorpe also has Diesel for $2.899.

That is so they can spread the wealth. Only the top percentage of Clear Lake residents own a car.
$1.75 in Laredo Texas yesterday. Watching for the Falcon trip. I did see there are multiple areas in the Southeast down to 1.19

Driving from Martinez to Havasu yesterday, in Parker, AZ at the Terribles, gas was $2.199 a gallon! Wish diesel would get a lot lower than $2.899. But I suppose we should be appreciative since not so long ago it was over $5 a gallon for diesel.

I paid $2.37 on Saturday, in Oakhurst, just north of Fresno, near Eastman Lake. Paid the same price Sunday in Hanford. Looking better everyday.

Several of the stations here dropped to $2.49 yesterday, so it is certainly cheaper than it was down South.

Funny how a little relief goes a long way, and the oil companies know it. Before the last spike, everyone would have been pissed paying the 'low' costs we are now 'enjoying'.
