Boat raffle

Post by Willbilly »

Just lookin for some feedback on the idea of holding a raffle for a boat how many people are interested I was thinking $100 per ticket. Think about it thats the same price as some of the high dollar turkey shoots but here you can win a boat. If it all works well I have another boat to do this with also. Give me some feedback.

I think there is a thread regarding this that was posted a long time ago. Might want to check the legality of this before pursuing.

Yeah I believe someone found that is wasn't legal.

but its odd because a girl on craigslist did that for her car. People bough a $10 raffle ticket and once she got 1000 people she ended the listing and chose a winner.

It was on the news so I'm not sure how it worked out.

I guess i would just be scared of getting scammed by someone rigging it.

Some girl on ebay did that with her virginity. Think about that transition. From virgin to hooker in one minute.

I believe to make it legal you would you need give a free ticket to anyone that asks for it and make the $100 a "donation". Kind of defeats the purpose but I was told that some time ago when I was setting up a raffle for something else.

It's kind of like any other drawing when you buy product. There's always fine print that you can get enter without a purchase.

What kind of boat? Type/make/model/size? Motor? Equipment? Current approximate value? I don't think too many here would commit to something like this without knowing the details.

I see a lot of raffles for houses going @ $100 a pop. Maybe a little steep for a boat.
