WOW - what a beast! Glad she had a chance to spawn and plant her seed for future generations, as she was definitely good stock.

Thats a beast!

I think we are going to have a lot of big salmon this year. With the major decline in numbers recently, there are probably very low levels of competition amongst the individuals right now for food and other resources. Just a guess.

As a born and bred Redding boy myself. Back in the 60's I caught a 50 lb'r once I thought that was huge. Back then there ere lots of big'ns.

That picture looks very suspicious. Clearly, it's a GIANT salmon. But the biologist holding it up does not seem to be straining as much as he should to hold up a slimy 90 lb fish which would be very cumbersome to hold up. His posture and stance just don't make sense.

I'm probably wrong...but look close and tell me something isn't "fishy" with that photo.

I dont know....after I looked at the pic a little closer and got a good look at the expression on his face I came to two conclusions...he's either
A.) Straining pretty hard to hold that thing out at arms length and trying not to show it
OR
B.) about to drop a grumpy in his wader's

Being that I live not too far from where that pic was taken and have for most of my life I'm not surpised at all by a fish of that size in Battle Creek. I hope we see more that size returning to spawn
