I hope they make this happen. Fishing at CL in January would be a very tough situation.

I thought that they were still working out the details and the permits.

So is this more than a rumor? I have reservations in Kelseyville, do I need to change them? And, where the heck is Oroville?

Yep-More than a rumor.

Oroville is about 1.5 hours North East of Sacramento.

Great lake by the way.

I was at the ORAC meeting Friday and FLW has not contacted State Parks or DWR yet, I would still treat it as rumor until FLW releases the info. I do not see them putting 200 boats in on a 1 lane gravel ramp!!!

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me...betting on water in Oroville more so than water in Shasta?????? I wouldn't hold my breath. I smell another Delta tournament!! If they do get enough water to raise the lake level dramatically, could be a slight debris problem......Folsom times ten.....Don't get me wrong, I would love to fish Oroville, but this doesn't make sense. Launching and safety are the named reasons for not fishing Shasta.......Gene, better check your callendar!!

I didnt think choosing Oroville over Shasta made sense but 2nd hand info was Oroville has the ability to fill the lake up faster than Shasta. And therefore could guarantee the FLW more than Shasta could.

Sorry Mike not true. It depends really where and how the storms hit, but most of the time Shasta gets more water earlier. Just info, not picking on ya. The bad thing about Oroville is low water launching. It is a pain in the butt. Been there lately? We have a long ways to go before we get a decent ramp in the water. Shasta still has a black top ramp in the water. Also, if Oroville comes up ( I hope it does for sure) the debris will be unbelievable. This will be our worst year ever. I like the idea of Oroville, I get to sleep in my own bed. I liked Clear Lake better because it would of been a GREAT jerkbait bite. All in all I think it's libel to be a bad decision.

It's all about the money...They can make up excuses all the they want, water level...bite...whatever. They will move it to where ever they can get the most boats and receive the most money from the local community. IMHO

No worries Gary, like I stated it was 2nd hand info and it sounded fishy to me too. I would prefer Shasta (I made finals there this year) and have only wakeboarded on Oroville  ...lol...but either will be fun.

Thank you Mr. Clueless FLW Basher. For those of us who fish, we would RATHER GO TO SHASTA. Even coming from So. Cal, I would rather go to SHASTA. Redding/Bridge Bay needs to fix this but chooses not to do it. We have to fish somewhere. Oroville is a better fishing choice than Clear Lake. It is not about money. It is about a quality tournament experience and FLW cares to provide that for their fishermen. If they didn't care it would remain at Clear Lake.

make it easy 1st clear lake 2nd delta 3rd clear lake 4th delta thats what flw wants any way solves all there problems just keep it like that and there numbers should be really good.Shasta sucks any way we are still in a fall bite up here and it took 30 pounds for two days to win in the fall classic all spotted bass 28 for second terrible fishery.....

Re: Probably more about Wal-Mart

Post by Dewayne »

Another move that leaves you shaking your head. At Shasta you have a marina that allows many boats to be left in the water and two paved launch ramps. Oroville has no ramp at this time. Sorry, but that makes no sense at all. Shasta has come up 2 feet already and the creeks are starting to flow in again. I ran quite a bit of the lake this weekend and didn't see anything dangerous. There are a couple humps in front of Bridge Bay, but that was the worst I saw. There have been some pretty decent sized tournaments held there over the past few weeks. Snow is always a concern, but you deal with that at either Oroville or Shasta.

My belief is that the change has more to do with the snail in Shasta and DFG or the Forest Service not allowing a Wal-Mart weight-in for the final day.

Sorry, but Shasta is the best choice for a January tournament. I don't mind fishing Oroville and would prefer it over Clear Lake in January, but no ramps and the town of Oroville does not offer the hotel/eater choices of Redding.

28-30? Why take two days to do what can be done in one at the Delta?

J/K Craig. Why aren't you guys fighting to get this thing fixed? I would love to go to Shasta. There has to be somebody up there that can convince FLW they can run a tournament that fits their requirements. The rest of the country is able to do it with far fewer resources than Redding. George Bush is gone so we can't blame this on him. Resolve FLW's issues and the fishermen will support Shasta and Redding.

I don't know why we don't just drain all the lakes, shock all the fish and take them and the water all down to the DELTA!!!!! Then we can have every tournament on the DELTA!!!!!! Cooch can be the Governor and Barrack and Ball can be on his cabinet.

Oroville as a replacement for Shasta or Clear Lake doesn't make sense at all. There is no guarantee that there will be water to launch in 8 weeks or not but that is what we will be needing. Look on the bright side IF we get that much rain to raise Oroville to a feesable launch ramp the Delta will probably be 5mph and Clear Lake will be at flood stage.

Why not FOLSOM we have a paved launch ramp and plenty of parking and a Wal Mart just down the street from the lake. I propose we move the original tournament scheduled for shasta, moved to Clear Lake, relocated to Oroville to make one more move to Folsom...

I think we need to buy the FLW boys some more darts and a better map of California so they can "throw" us a new schedule.

Craig, you are an angry man. I would be too but I leave for Falcon on Thursday and the hope of getting a 30 pound sack tempers my bad attitude. You should get off the computer with us and get on the phone with Bridge Bay to get this tournament back to Shasta. If KB's plan goes through they will just send all that Delta water down here to So. Cal. so we can fill our swimming pools. Low 90's expected here the end of the week..........and no rain.

BTW Oroville is now posted as the tounament location on FLW Outdoors. Not that it means anything as they posted Shasta, then Konocti resort, then Konocti Casino, then Konocti resort now Oroville. No wonder they cant get the brochure finished to open sign-ups.

Why dont they have it at New Melones near Angels camp , plenty of places to stay there and the launch ramps are good too when the lake is low . Fished the 100% Bass TOC there once and had the dinner and such at the fair grounds across the street from Gloryhole sports , it was a nice . Just an idea . :)

consistency makes for happy anglers.....inconsistency, well......what do I know, I'm not a full time fisherman anyway...

Only reason KB wants to change it to Folsom is he does fairly well in team tournaments there.....good thing he has good partners!! Not really sure where their gonna end up, not really sure i care....i'm not a full time fisherman anyway!!!!

Like I posted this morning Ricky it is on the site but that doesn't mean it won't change again. I have cancelled two reservations for lodging in January. I will sit and hope that it gets changed back to Shasta. Not thinking that I have a chance of cashing a check in the January stop anyway..................unless they change it to Mead?

Gary start dancing brotha. Bring on Oroville, Bring on the Rain. Oroville is a big time fishery and the exposure wont hurt it one bit. The guys who want the delta in january NO THANKS.... Orovillle will put up a good showing in January EVERYBODY will catch fish and with the new stren 2 day then cut format it should make for a interesting tournament. If you guys havent figured it out yet FLW does what they want and will continue to do what they want. So lets get off of are computers and stop bashing them and support there decisions they make.
