WestCoast Bass
The West Coast Bass web site www.westcoastbass.net has been updated. We will be taking entry deposits and fees for the up coming season starting December 1, 2008 and matching up boaters and non-boaters in the order they are received. Due to some pressure by some old supporters we changed the pre-fish to two days prior with Mon-Wed off limits. However, as always we want what is best for the majority of the fishermen and we are still very much open to the one day pre-fish plan that favors the working man. Please feel free to give me your feelings on this or any other concerns and check out the web site for updated information. We are very serious about the commitment to best possible formats and paybacks for the fisherman and especially the working man. Email us through the west Coast bass web site with your thoughts.

Here's your chance guys. Tell Larry what would work best for you. Personally, I love the schedule!

I'm with you on this one Caudawg. It's a return to a traditional ProAm schedule for the NorCal guys. Five different lakes spread out over a bunch of seasons.
Sounds like a bunch of fun to me!!!!

NO PRACTICE......Let's just show up and put them in the water. The guy that can find them the best wins.

Re: WestCoast Bass
I like the idea but I do not like the scheduling. It has far too many conflicts with FLW. There is no way for those of us that fish FLW to fish the entire schedule. I am not sure I like the price being more than WB and AC either.
There is even a conflict between the AC Pro/am on CL and the WCB on Don Pedro. Which would you rather fish?
I like to fish tournaments and would like to fish WON, WCB, AC and both FLW tours if there were no scheduling conflicts. I know that may be wishful thinking. Looks like I will cherry pick the WCB and fish all the WON and FLW.
Plus-What are we fishing for (paybacks)and when is the classic and what are the prizes. WCB needs to release some more info than whats on their site.
Great idea-Not so great scheduling! Not bashing just stating the facts. I need to see some more info in writing!
PS-I have emailed these questions directly to WCB months ago. Plus, I am with KB-just show up and fish and let the best be the best! That way the scheduling conflicts have less of an impact.

Joe , you in on this circuit ? Looks like this might be the deal , i cant wait to see you on TV reeling in some hogs on swimbaits !!
Dont know if the "Wanabee Pro" will want to tangle with you and those big baits you toss , but who knows ?

Re: WestCoast Bass
What is wrong with Pedro in June ? Lets not start hashing over the schedule that is set maybe Pedro that time of the year will give everyone fishing the tourney a fair chance at winning , just show up and catch the best 5 fish you can and have some fun , maybe win some money !

Re: WestCoast Bass
Brian they asked for INPUT, I am with Joe Pedro is better in February what is so unfair about that?

Re: WestCoast Bass
Robert , Im not personally worried about catching swimbait fish at pedro in Febuary and that is exactly what you will have to do if you want to win . Joe , Me , You , and a bunch of other guys can catch them pretty good that time of the year it would be tipping it in our favor and that is not fair , i just dont want to make it a local shoot out that favors all us local guys then no one wants to fish the event . A swimbait slug fest is something i dont think would be good . Right now in the local team events you got everyone going to the Semi-Pro team stuff because they are tired of the guys who take their money , i just dont want this to turn into something no one will fish and changing dates to favor certain anglers because you feel the fishing is better for the way you can win is not the answer . Just show up and fish and figure it out keep it simple , fish out side of all our comforts and we will become better fishermen in the long run , weight is weight no matter if your weighing in a 38lb sack of fish on swimbaits or a 10lb sack of fish on dropshot , it is a competition and the best weight wins no matter where or what time of the year your fishing . I know im tired of seeing schedules change weekly and to suit certain anglers .

Re: WestCoast Bass
I understand what you are saying, but you probably need to give the guys that fish at this level some credit, this is not a team circuit! Many of these guys are very good and beat the local zipcode guys on a regular basis ( which zipcodes is Gary D. considered a local? How about all of them!) Just so you know I prefer Pedro in February simply because there is less recreational boat traffic to deal with (Wake board boat wakes hurt my back!)
Its all good Brian, I hope you find a totally fair circuit to fish someday, but even with this circuit, you will find the off limit period will not hurt the good guys, it will hurt the guys that need time on the water, heck Bryan and I had not been on McClure for 11 months and managed to squeek out a win last Saturday!
Take care!

Re: WestCoast Bass
pedro can be a post spawn nightmare in june why hit it when it might suck.
most everyone that is willin to spend $600 to enter a tourney can huck a swimbait and as any of us know a lucky bite or two could win it, just as a missed bite or two could loose it.
clear lake is great in june & pedro is great in mar\feb.
as far as an advantage Ill take June when knowin the lake makes a big difference and a lucky bite isnt as likely.
if Pedro sux no one wants to come back. look at what the %100 toc did to new melones rep.

Re: WestCoast Bass
Robert , So you dont really plan on fishing any of the other tournaments in the circuit just Don Pedro ? And that is exactly the problem why we dont have anyone to fish against anymore in local team circuits . They draw 6-12 boats what kind of competition is that ? None that im interested in .
I imagine Clearlake would be a mad house in June with wake board boats all over it .
It is never going to be totally fair no matter how you look at it guys working togeather , baits that the average guy cant get , etc. , im not worried about going up against the big named Pro's i have always wanted to test my skill against them without taking off work for a whole week to fish the FLW and such . I have heard nothing but good things about this circuit back in the day when it was around , im going to give it a try win or loose .
Catch your best 5 fish weigh them in and see how you do , you have to start someplace and this circuit hits a bunch of lakes at different times of the year , it will definately separate the men from the boys .
We will see who is the best at the end of the year and it might just be YOU because i know your a damn good fishermen who i respect alot , the motherload region has some of the best fishermen in the state , lets see how we do against some of the legends of the sport when we are not at our local lake on their water and when they come to our waters at a different time of the year . I know Joe said he quit his regular job to go up against Dobyns and such, i dont think he ever did , maybe here is his chance .
Tell me straight up that you didnt want the tourney date changed because you felt you could pull in a big sack of fish in February , I know your back is hurt and i know Joe probably wanted it changed to suit his needs that would give him an advantage , the circuit is about more than just Don Pedro and our favorite time to fish it . Plus im tired of throwing swimbaits i like to fish many different ways , my arm is just starting to feel better from the swimbait elbow i had this last year , i couldnt even fish for months !

Re: WestCoast Bass
I have only fished Don Pedro twice. Once as a non-boater in a West Coast Bass and once as a Pro in a WON Bass. I cashed checks in both events.
I could care less when they have the tournament as long as it doesn't conflict with another event so that we can get the most participation.

Re: WestCoast Bass
Joe ,Yes Aaron Cole & Greg won a boat at New Melones and it showed exactly who was best under tuff fishing conditions that is what it showed everyone , Remmers / Frey they were up there too in that TOC , it proved they are damn good fishermen . They beat all of us fair and square i can accept that because i was there fishing too .So your telling me if we fish Pedro and it is tuff , it is going to ruin its reputation ?.............Come on im not buying it .
Don Pedro is a great lake and it can be tuff at times no matter what time of the year , i imagine with the offlimits the fish wont get beat up and maybe everyone can bring in fish to the scales .
Just let the director set the dates someone that isnt fishing the circuit and see how we all do ? What is wrong with that ? Quit all the bitching about how tuff it will be .
Joe i fished Clearlake this last weekend in the Nor-Cal Bass TOC never been there this late in the year , the fishing was brutal but i still had fun and we still found out who the best was (Angel Valdez .), no one had an advantage the circuit because none of the tourneys are held there .It was great i fished my a$$ off with two really nice Co-Anglers and had a good time , gave it my best shot with a day and a half of Pre-Fishing it was a fair competition , im happy !

Re: WestCoast Bass
well Brian the director asked for input so I gave mine. Id bet theres more guys that would rather clear lake in june than will even fish pedro & I would bet pedro gets a way better turn in feb\mar than it would in june. but obviously you care about it way more than me so Ill just shut up
Re: WestCoast Bass
Brian, Good Luck! I just think a circuit should try to hit each fishery when they are at their at the peak of productivity. This makes them more fun for everyone!

Keep giving Larry your feedback. He is very much in need of hearing from the masses. It's tough to pull a conflict free schedule. But Larry does want to hear as much info as he can get.
And Joe, don't ever shut up. No matter what.

I hope we're fishing for cash, It is going to be tuff to sell a boat in this economy.....How about posting a sample payback and show us what kind of return we are shooting for with our $640 entry.
Thanks,

Re: WestCoast Bass
Talking with Larry about the Scheduling ; Mostly this year was/is controlled by CDFG , and they were the only "reasonable" (2) day permits available. I am sure things will be different in 2010. Come fish them and see. You are correct as to switching dates probably Joe, but the permits just were not there !
Thanks all I can tell you

Re: My vote for no pre-fish
I applaud you guys for fishing the tourneys you do, but in this recession, I can see why you would like the dates to coincide with the best fishing. That's a lot of coin to dole out (Probably close to $1000 a tourney for the pros with pre-fishing, lodging, travel) I could see dropping $350 for an amatuer entry, but what's the payback going to be?
