I hear that the crappie fishing is on fire up at clear lake.
I'm planning on taking my wife and 4 yr old son crappie fishing this coming Thanksgiving weekend and need help on what to use and most importantly, where on the lake?
thanks for any help!!!

Crappie Fishing at Clear Lake...Need Help
Re: Crappie Fishing at Clear Lake...Need Help
The best action seems to be around Kono Tai. Some are using small minnows for good results. Others are using crappie jigs and grubs either under a float or free falling. You might bring up Terry Knights colume in the record bee as he usually has up to date reports. There has been a conflict with three boats coming out of Sacramento taking over the area. The fish and Game in their effort to increase fishing license sales won't let the limit be lowered as per our wish to save the resorce so the madness goes on. The Crappie have been going up to 2 lbs. Good Luck.

Under the dock at Sea Breeze in Glenhaven...shhhh! Best crappie docks for size on the whole lake. Fish the very end of the pier and inbetween the pilings and your in with whatever your favorite crappie technique is.

kano tahi, sahg rock, 4 poles, and konocti those are the best places that i have found.
lure of choice chart panfish assassin on a 1/16-1/8 jig head 2-4lb test. The key is to reel very very slow the bite is almost non-existant so you just feel a little difference in pressure.
Crappie are allot of fun to catch on light gear once you learn the speed and bite then you can catch them one after another while other boats around you get skunked using the same thing

Hey Tomas,
I fished Kona Tahi 2 weeks ago, my brother and I watched as 1 boat out of 6 cought one after the other, after watching this for about 2 hrs and my brother about to jump in the lake because he was the one that wanted them more than anything I said OK OK I am going over to him and watch what he is doing, he was using the exact same size minnow as us but his split shot was only 8 inches from the small drop shot hook and he was only tossing it out no more than 8 feet and clicking his bail, any deeper and you would not get touched, also we were using 18 inch leader, these crappie are smart, they will eat the minnow and spit it out before you can count to 1, with the 8 inch leader you will see or feel the bite before they have time to spit it out, after I figured it out my brother and I did 2nd best out of the 6 boats that were there
I prefer bass but when 2 lb crappie are willing to bite I will go for them.
P.S. No fish caught were harmed in anyway just ate
we only kept 15 total
I think the min should be no more than 10 per rod myself.
