TWISTED, SPLIT, AND WRINKLED "LIVING RUBBER"

Post by triple trout »

Hi I was just curious to see if anybody else has been getting really horribly wrinkled rubber from living rubber? Over the last month all 4 pounds I purchased from them was unuseable,I finally spoke with Paul there and he said "there was nothing wrong with it and thats the best they had. I cant even find a piece longer than 3" without major twists and wrinkles. I was very amazed at what they considered there best rubber. After I recieved the first batch I called them and Paul said" he would re-ship a new order". well over 3 weeks and the second batch finally arrived which was worse than the first. So I called Paul and thats when he said " its the best they had and nothing is wrong with it. has anybody else had any problems with the fine rubber from living rubber?

Brett

If this stuff comes in bad, its going back and I wont to buissness with them anymore. I am not going to spend my time trying to fix something should be right to begin with. All my old living rubber fine stuff I have from years ago is good. And the regular round I get from barrlows is good. Wish I new about this before I spent all this money. Now I am worried.

Brambo you will be more than pleased with anything from lurecraft, they dont sell crappy rubber or silicone as if it was good. also check out Barlows I always use them they have fantastic product, great service fast and reliable.
I tried LIVING RUBBER 4 times and never again!!!!

Mark ive been tying jigs 27 years and I have never seen anything like it. My guys wont buy these jigs tied with this rubber let alone any stores. Its horrible and Paul was pretty stubborn on the issue that this is what he has, take it or I pay shipping to get it back to him, then I will get refunded. he knew I was unhappy with the first and re-sent a even worse batch..I recieved second batch after 3.5 weeks of waiting and 2 more phone calls where he forgot about shipping my order out. Supposidly he looked at it himself and said it was good. thats my point hes pushing crappy products as if its good and wants us to pay full price. What a joke. I know you like his products (mark inman)ive seen you say it b4. I will stick with good ol Lure craft, and barlows.

i have been talking to him for a month and this is what i got another 2 pounds of krinkle. im not attacking him im telling the truth and warning my fellow anglers and tackle builders. Sorry your so stuck on him that you dont see the point. I too have been tying for years and never had a batch like this. barlows or the others dont accept his wrinkled rubber and try to sell it .. I have over 30 pounds of rubber from 2 week old to 5 year old nothing wrong with it all. barlows charges a little more than him but you dont get krinkle either.. you make the choice. Im not trying to argue with you MArk or degrade Paul just telling the truth.

Can I get the stuff from them not in a little kit? Also I want it not not cut into 5 or six inch sections, just all together.

I received my first order or rubber recently and all the regular size stuff was fine...... however the one pound batch of fine rubber I got is all wrinkled too...... it was bunched up in two bags instead of rolled up like the others.... thought it was just me..... just finished tying some fine rubber jigs tonight and just like you said,, all wrinkled up...... I'm sure it'll still fish fine but it does look funny..... I also noticed it doesn't separate very well when I stretch and cut it... not at all like the regular size stuff.... since I'm new at this I wasn't sure if that just the way the fine stuff is or if was a bad batch...

I know too much heat is bad for rubber,,, but do ya think maybe getting it a little warm would relax it a bit ??? Is soaking it in mineral oil just for bringing out the color or would that help w the wrinkles

BLUE RANGER We can always start calling them spider jigs now. lol I threw it away and re-orderd from barlows alot less hassle. I was told by paul There was nothing wrong with it he inspected it himself.. So I guess mine and a few others opinion of good rubber is differant than his. My stores want a perfect jig not a decent product. If I was just tying for personal use it wouldnt be such an issue. But when you re-sale a product, the public expects a flawlees product not a good jig with wrinkled rubber. I know I wouldnt buy a product with this material.

BASSMANDAN I wasted a month re-shipping one order back and got even a worse batch on my second order. He told me it was in the mail over 3 weeks ago and it showed up yesterday. I guess I also have a differant opinion of being taken are of.

WOW crazy story, and I can certainly agree with the desire for the "perfect" skirt, and I just make jigs for myself.

Hope it all works out for ya,

I talked to Paul this am...... he's on it, working to fix the issue w his supplier,, he offered to replace mine w another color, or, since the fine brown is what I really want,,said he'll take care me once he gets a new supply of the good stuff...... I'm happy with that.... and from those I've talked too,,, he has an excellent reputation so I'm not worried

and Paul told me there is really no way to gets rid of the wrinkles and folds..... but suggeted I just try to salvage as much as I can
