Clear Lake trip
Clear Lake trip
Am planning a trip this summer to fish Clear Lake. Would really appreciate any advice on places to stay, preferably with a dock for the boat and decent, confortable accomodations for the wife. Any info would be great. Thanks.

PD- Another place to look at is Blue Fish Cove Resorts.
~~> http://www.bluefishcove.com/
The Family and I are tenatively booked already for when the boy's get out of school this summer once my Vacation Dates are secured for my first pick of avaibility. (18 years and still the 1'st most low man DOWN on the totem pole for Vaca Picks'
)
.... unless we do the SoCal swing this year with the surfing beaches like Newport and a visit to DisneyLand while borrowing my parents 5th wheel ... and then hitting Solvang, Santa Barbara, Pismo and Hearst on the way back up as the wife and boys have never experienced the SoCal ocean or all of the above as well..
Clear Lake will DEFIANTELY be the cheaper route for me to take this year !!
If you have any questions about Blue Fish Cove Resorts for a 2and referal -- call Cooch up a 925-684-9775.
Cheers,
Dan

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Huntington or Sunset... Newport pretty much sucks for surfing, unless you hit the Wedge (which can really be tricky as it breaks close and hard).DeltaDan wrote:.... unless we do the SoCal swing this year with the surfing beaches like Newport

We stayed at Bluefish Cove in '04. They have furnished cottages w/cooking facilities, pots & pans, dishes, silverware etc... all ya gotta bring is your own food. Rates are/were reasonable, and they are/were pet-friendly...we took our beagle and retriever with us, no prob even with two dogs. Also, if I remember correctly they have a launch ramp and dock (I was fishing as a backseater in a Stren tourney, so my boat stayed home)

CLEARLAKE VACATION/TOURNAMENT HOUSE FOR RENT!
A "FISH HOOK" shaped lagoon with your own private dock and free internet!
NIGHTLY OR WEEKLY www.thefishook.com
This house is on the water,(a "FISH HOOK" shaped lagoon) with your own private calm water dock right in your backyard. Many boats have been won right in the back yard! Only a 5 minute idle to the Konocti Casino boat ramp (Bass tournament head quarters of Clear Lake). There are major tournaments out of here this year. The air conditioned house, (not a mobile), has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, HIGH SPEED INTERNET, washer/dryer, dishwasher, 2 TVs with VCR’s and DVD’s. The backyard has a propane gas BBQ, lawn, and big shade tree. It is set-up for family's while you are fishing the tournament! Charge your boat batteries overnight at your private safe and secure dock. There is alot of parking for boat trailers and vehicles right in front of the house! Idle over to boat check-in and your ready for blast off!
Houses in this area rent for between $225-$700 a night, however, this is privately owned and no wasted overhead. Call me for at least half off those rates. How about a prefish/tournement special? You wont believe the rates. Call fast the dates are filling up! Email or call me soon to book your dates, Steve (408)623-4203 or homefires5@yahoo.com www.thefishook.com
Here is what people are saying:
Steve, Just a little note to thank you for renting us the house. It was the best decision we made. It is the perfect location for fishing tournaments. The short idle to the tournament head quarters saved us a lot of time vs. loading and unloading the boat every day. The dock was perfect for two boats and we found adequate parking for both trucks and trailers. We will be using your house in the future and would recommend it to all tournament fisherman (except when we want to use it) LOL.
Best regards, Randall
Hi Steve,
Janie here, Bryan ’s wife! The children and I just returned from your place on Thursday evening. I just wanted to tell you that we had a wonderful time, and that your house was just fantastic for us, clean, spacious, peaceful, well-supplied, and just as you had described. Thank you so much – it was a great break and we would love to rent it again sometime down the road. Bry prefished every day and he fished every evening off your dock with the kids for bluegill, sunfish etc. What a thrill for the children as they caught so much, and loved eating them pan fried for dinner. We went out in the boat a couple of times. My 5 year old daughter actually caught a decent sized bass herself. I rented a car from Enterprise, who picked us up and took us back, for a couple of days and we went to play mini golf at Konocti, visited the local museum in town, played in the park by the water, rented from Blockbuster, shopped etc. They were mostly happy just puttering around the house.
Well, thank you again and ciao for now.

Re: Clear Lake trip
Ferndale Resort. I took my wife there for a week last Sept. The owners are very accomodating and they have a great restaurant for a nice dinner. The view is outstanding and the docks are terrific.

I would stay away from lodging in the town of Clearlake. If you want to fish the south part of the lake just haul your boat down to Redbud landing and bring it back at night. You can cruise down there but you have to go through the narrows which can get pretty hairy when the wind comes up .
Good Luck!

Re: Clear Lake trip
Hey thanks a lot everyone - really appreciate all the info. Last (and only) time I fished Clear Lake was in '88! A bunch of us came north to fish a club vs. club tourney and had a great time. Except of course we got smoked by all the locals who were using a technique we'd never heard of called rippin'.
Can't wait to get up there again and start looking around.
PD
