The color of Drag Thingy's ?

Post by DeltaDan »

I just bought my third E200 series Curado yesterday ... Really Love Them !

I got a question though on the anti-reverse clutch knobs. What do the different colors do ?

I believe they come with White -- and I have Green and Pink in the baggie with the wrench.

Do they do/peform anything different than what is currently on there? -- or are all the same for some reason in a different color like uniform changeout ??

Cheers,
Dan

Those are the VBS brakes. The different colors are for different amounts of braking. The pink are lighter and offer less braking action. The green are heavier and offer more braking action. The heavier brakes are for lures that tend to catch the wind more or require more braking than the pink can offer.

Thanks bantam1 !

I was playing with a new E7 and a new BBZ Shad today for a spell and I ended up pushing all the tabs out as far as they could go to not get any overspool and some distance on a bait that does not cast well.

I could/should of just pitched that bait today ~ but I was not near many docks/sturcture till later in the day and I was sticking to a Jig bite for 70% of my day.

Question -- Is the foreward/outward weights of the plastic things to create drag/resistance on the cast .... and do they need to be the same across for ballance across the braking system for them to work properly ?

Also ther is against the seat, One Click and 2and Click as the outermost for drag. Is ther a set pattren for uniformitly between the brakes ?

I have always just done the Dial on most other reels.

Cheers,
Dan

That bait is not a distance casting bait in my opinion. It likes to turn and catch the wind. Its not a bad thing, just inherent to the design of the bait.

Typically its best to try and keep the weights evenly turned on/off. So a I, Y or X pattern is best. This provides even braking on the spool.

There should be one click out to turn the brake on and one click in to turn it off. You can see below what I am trying to say about the on and off. The purple section is the "on" section. The red section is the "off" section. Pulling the weight past the "on" section will remove it from the spool.

This is all in the user manual for the reel as well.

Copy Bro -- Thanks !

I do the I, Y or X pattern but have not had to mess with my other E's for the SB, BB's and LV's much at all honestly.

Had some problems with the newE and first time throwing the BBZ Shad on a new E7 ... I think that bait is more as pointed out to by BDBR ~ better served for pitching.

Thanks again,
Dan

That bait tends to catch the air and turn sideways. It just seems like a bait that you cannot cast very far because of it. Its not a problem with the reel, just an issue with the design of the bait. Unfortunately it cannot be changed in order to allow the bait to swim properly.
