The best rod i have found is the Dobyn's 733c , i have tried out many different rods and nothing works the baits with ease like this rod , it just has the perfect action . :D

I don't want to make this a Chevy/Ford/Dodge thing, but I use a Dobyns 706CB crankbait rod for the full size Super Spook, Vixen, and Sammy and a Dobyns 704CB crankbait rod for the Spook Jr., Barely Legal Vixen, small Sammy, and Iovino Splash-Its. Both are great (and light) sticks.

The brand new, completely re-designed, next generation Dobyns Rods will be hitting the stores in the next three or four weeks and flat out ROCK! You will be hearing a lot more about these new rods in the coming weeks and months.

Damiki Dark Angel. 7' medium. Super light and a good rod for this application. I've been using this rod exclusively for this technique.

I will have to 2nd the Legend St. Croix series. Light rods, made in the USA, lifetime warrranty. Bait Barn carries them and so does Escalon Bait and Tackle.

I like the Dobyns as well! I used loomis for a very long time they make great products but I like the feel of the Dobyns better. I have been using the 684CB for the smaller stuff and the 685 CB for the bigger baits. I am so stoked to try out the next generation of Dobyns Rods from what I am hearing they are the shiznit!!

As far as the ST. Croix I will have to take your word for it no experience with them.

Blitzz out

Lamiglas XC661 for a real light, good topwater rod.
Lamiglas XC 734 Topwater Special for larger baits and longer casts

George, wait couple more weeks until the ISE shows and check out the new Dobyns rods BEFORE you buy something else. I think the new rods will be in a class by themselfs

Powell 703. Its not touted as a topwater rod (not sure why?), but its KILLER for these baits.
