Try Braid with the last foot soaked with super glue.

8" Lunker Punker> 65# Braid > Add a "O Ring" on Nose > and use a San Diego Jam Knot with a 1/4 tag end after tie.

Why the O Ring or super glew? Just got by first two punkers, tried them out with 20 lb Big Game and on long casts had trouble walking the bait. When the bait got closer it walked better I'm thinking because it was too much stretch. Switching back to braid to try it again.

Super glue makes the line stiff by the bait, Keeps it from getting caught in the hooks on the walk..........

Spanky, Your observation's are correct....Too much stretch in the mono. Plus mono doesn't float has well as Braid and on long cast you will be pull'in the nose down.
