Sacramento ISE Rountable Question Contest

Post by kb »

It is time once again to throw out your questions for the guys on the Sacramento ISE Show's Ultimate Bass Roundtable Seminar where you get to ask the questions. All of the questions need to be under this post and I will select five questions to be asked during the roundtable seminar Saturday at 12:30.

If your question is selected you will win a VIP pass into the show and a tackle prize at the roundtable seminar IF you are present when your question is answered.

The five anglers on the roundtable are:
Gary Dobyns
Greg Guiterrez
Robert Lee
Jimmy Reese
Bub Tosh

I will once again host the seminar

You can ask your question to one or all of the guys!

passes will be put at the will call window at the show.

Good Luck and see you all in Sacramento! For a complete seminar schedule you can go to www.sportsexpos.com

Ok, lets try this again, This if for any of them that has an answer

With the low water levels we are seeing in our lakes right now and lack of visible cover, what if anything should the anglers be doing to adjust there game plan?

How do you guys practice for a two day event verses three day, shared weight verses indivdual weight, and lakes that you know verses lakes that you don't know.

There are many levels of anglers, with many aspiring for greatness and spending vast amounts of time on the water. However, there are only a few who truly achieve the level of proficiency to be successful at the highest level, regardless of the body of water being contested.

What do you believe separates those from the hopefulls, and what elements of knowledge do the truly elite anglers understand that the rest never seem to figure out? What aspects of bass fishing do they focus on or become proficient in - techniques, seasonal patterns, bass behaviors, or some other element?

Thanks for the opportunity kb!

Thanks for the opportunity KB.

What are some of the the biggest mistakes that you see amateur anglers making during the course of a fishing day or during a tournament and what advice would you give them to combat these situations.

With the lakes starting to get water run off into them now. What water temperature change would you look for going up A river arm compaired to the main lake body? A 5 deg. or higher temp change and WHY???

For Robert Lee,

With the forecast low water year for 2009 and the resultant encroachment of salty water into the west delta, how much salt water can/will a largemouth tolerate before moving? Is there a way to determine if largemouth will still be in an area without spending hours or days fishing an area with no bites? Would bait/bird activity lend any clues to this?

For the group:

With the big bait craze spreading like wild fire, what changes have you made if any to your prefish and tournament day strategies?

Sponsorship in the past was hard enough to obtain for most.

With the current economic conditions, how do you think that will effect many of you? Will we see maybe more "other" the bass fishing sponsors or just start seeing a decline in some of the payouts?

What would you recommend as the best way for an angler to sharpen their skills, learn tournament etiquette, and become better prepared for tournament fishing? Start at the club level and move up? Fish as a Co-angler?

kent, i have several:

1) how did the spike in gas prices last year affect your fishing? did you make any permanent changes as a result? if gas approaches $5/gallon again this year, how will it affect your fishing?

2) in terms of gear, tackle and techniques, what were some of the biggest trends in fishing you saw emerge in 2008? do you think of any of these have real staying power? are there any new trends you can foresee for 2009?

3) (this question is mainly about fishing the delta) if you did really well during the prefishing but the fish aren't biting on that pattern the day of the tournament, how long before you abandon what you were doing and move onto something else? or, do you keep doing what you're doing and just wait for the tide to change things up?

Thanks KB.

Hey Kent,

This is for all of the guys and is a past and present question...
From your current skill level back to when you were up and coming,
if you could be in the back of the boat with any angler, who do you feel you would have and currently would benefit from fishing with.

Hey Ken, thanks for the opportunity to ask a question.

This is for the entire group:

Looking back at your successful careers as professional tournament fishermen, is there anything that you would have done differently and changed knowing what you know now?

Good fishing,

Thanks KB

Now that the FLW Stren Oroville is postponed I will not be going up this weekend to pre-fish and will be able to attained the Sacramento ISE. So let me try and win one of these ticks. This has to be my luck year I have been writing questions going on four years and I must say some very good ones too!

The question that I have is for the whole group but they have to address the answer to one of the other Roundtable Pro’s!

How would they psyche out their competition – opposition just before the big tournament? What little tricks do they use?

Jimmy psyche out Gary (this should be easy)
Gary psyche out Greg
Greg psyche out Robert
Robert psyche out Bub
And
Bud psyche out Jimmy.

Just to see that would be worth the price of admission.

1. Considering that our economy is in the tank, what would you propose tournament organizations (large and small) do to retain and attract new tournament anglers?

2. What do you think has been the greatest innovation since you have started bass fishing competively that has leveled the playing field for tournament fishing?

For those that are new to fishing the Delta for the first or several times. ~

What what should be their first/most basic and easiest appoach to fishing it successfully for them with safety in mind at all times .... And what can they do to build on each trip in greater success ~ with the changing tides, time of year, weather patterns and everything else since their last time on the water there.

Cheers BrothA Brown,
Dan

PS -- I can't make it ..... But if my question gets picked. Can you please save a ticket in BrothA G-man's name. He lost his truck (due to mechanical reasons) and will be taking the public transportation to get there and home on Thursday for the $1 beers.
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Assuming fishing is your full-time job, what are some of you hobbies? What do you do to get away, relax, and not think about work? When you have time off what do you find yourself wanting to do?

When fishing points and sloping banks during the prespawn, what key elements dictate the use of a jig over the use of a carolina rig when searching for bass?
