I hope you all had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year. ABA will be starting off 2009 with a team tournament this Sunday January 18th at El Capitan reservoir in San Diego.
If you remember from last year, we have a Regional Sponsor in El Cajon Ford. Paul Leader and El Cajon Ford have been the leading sponsor of the best bass tournaments in the San Diego Area for many years. Paul sponsors our Category prizes. The categories are Adult/Youth, Man/Woman, Gen-X. These are categories that you don’t need to pay for but still win additional money for a top finish. For Adult/Youth, maximum age for the youth is 18 at the start of the season and no lower age limit. The Gen-X category is for both fishermen of the team being 21 or younger on the opening day of the season. These are in addition to our very unique options of Dr. Plots and Easy Money.
Early sign ups will be at Anglers Marine in Santee any day up to and including Saturday the 17th. If you sign up in person at Anglers, either team mate paid in full for the team, for the last 6 tournaments, your name will go in a raffle for a $500 Anglers Marine Shopping Spree at the end of the year.
The initial draw for position will be at 5:45 pm on Saturday the 17th at Anglers Marine Santee. Any additional entries will be done at the Lower Gate on Sunday morning, but must pay with cash and will go at the end of line for blast off.
With 5 tournaments left on the schedule, you can still qualify for Angler of the Year and the Year End Fish Off. The Fish Off is set at Lake Mead where top prize is a 2009 Ranger 188VS with 175 Mercury Pro XS motor. It has a retail value of $34,000!!!
The reason it will be at Lake Mead is because it has Las Vegas next door as a family destination.
If you enter all the options, the total is the same as it has been, $300
Options are: Big Fish paying the top 5 big fish if we have 30 teams, $20.
The super popular Dr. Plots option $20.
Easy Money and Biggest Bass both $20.
The Big Bucks Option for $35.
100% of all Option Money comes back to the fishermen!!
Our tournaments and the entire process are tailored to competition. If you are new to team tournament fishing, you have a home with us at ABA. We are friendly and will guide you through the team tournament process. If you are a top dog, super competitive player, come cast a line with some of the best fisherman in Southern California. You will be rewarded handsomely for your skills.
Following is the remainder of the 2009 Sunday schedule:
January 18, 2009 El Capitan Reservoir
February 22, 2009 Lower Otay
March 15, 2009 Lake Hodges
April 19, Lake Hodges
May 17, Lake Sutherland
We have something for every level of fishermen. With coffee and donuts at morning inspection and sign up and a BBQ between final weigh in and awards, it just doesn’t get any easier or more fun. Each tournament will also have an equipment raffle so everybody has the chance to come away a winner. We will also be taking on water team pictures, weigh in, and awards pictures. These will be combined into a year-end DVD set to music. This has been a huge hit in the past and the biggest request for this upcoming year. We also want to have your profile on line on our website. This is especially useful, along with the DVD to show sponsors how active you are in promoting them.
All this and a quarterly American Bass News, make fishing ABA the best value in tournament fishing. For more information contact your San Diego Regional Tournament Director, Dave Seaberg, at 619-990-1278. deseaberg@cox.net
