San Mateo ISE - BTD booth

Post by L Dub »

Just wondering, but did anyone else get charged tax on their purchase at the BTD booth? I did, but I don't think my buddy did. I also got screwed on my free magazine too.

Not really trying to bash BTD. I was just contemplating if going to the ISE was even worth it. Didn't see anything as far as a 'great' deal and a lot fewer booths. The way I'm seeing it now is, I paid $15 x2 plus parking to pay regular prices plus tax. The seminars were fun to watch, but it's stuff I've seen before. I thought I saw something about discounted licenses also. Joke was on me I guess cause those were regular price also.

Count me out for next year.

All you had to do is take a magazine. They were only right there next to the register at San Mateo. In Sac they are on the other side of the booth but they are free with purchase. How you got screwed I'm not sure.

For the most part every purchase had tax charged with the possible exception of reel purchases.

I bought some stuff there without any problems. Walked away w/out the magazine (my fault) then went back and got one. I used to subscribe and thought that they had discontinued the magazine. Glad to see they didn't and I'm going to subscribe again.

Come on dude, all you had to do was ask. You could have got out of there with all kinds of free stuff.

Wow thats a different complaint, Maybe OSH with their tax free sale but that just aint how it is these days. We as sellers get charged the tax on every transaction we sell in California and brother we have to pass that 8.75 % to you also. With an exception of a special of course but there is always fine print. Just expect to pay it all the time then if you get a break you could be happy. I know Black Dog gave away Hundreds of dollars in free baits Via the raffle on Sat at San Mateo. Some very nice punkers and custom stuff. Like Stony said the new Bass West was right at the register waiting for you to take it free with purchase. It doesnt get any easier than that. In this day and age with the economy I think that BTD was prety cool about the whole show and you owe an apology or at least a my bad
never give up, be possitive and patient, and you will be rewarded

My complaint is that the beer cost to much......and Josh didn't let Punker paint enough Bluegills.

Actually, those that have known me for a spell can tell you when the weather gets cold that's my daily attire and has been for a couple decades or so. Most folks see me in public more during the warmer months when I pretty much just go with shirts and shorts.

Hopefully I'll be feeling a bit better tomorrow and will return to the show, in my 'urban cowboy' attire.

'Ya better, as I won't be able to get to the ISE to see the roundtable discussion and I'm really hoping you can film and host it... just another one of those extra-special reasons that WB is what it is! :D

I did film the round table seminar at San Mateo and will do my best to film Sac also. Expect to see the San Mateo film next week on the .tv site. One thing I can tell you is filming those guys for two hours left my arm feeling awfully sore,

So was the no sales tax only at certain booths? I'm pretty sure Tackle Warehouse didn't charge me tax.

Like I said, it wasen't meant to be an attack on BTD but more of an overall disappointing experience at the ISE. I've ordered online from BTD plenty of times and have had good experiences.

$15 entry + $7 parking to pay regular price on stuff I can get online just doesn't raise my skirt is all.

Fisherman's Warehouse definitely isn't charging sales tax at the show and they have lots of good stuff. They have signs up all over the place and they are doing so at Sac ISE also. Tackle Warehouse is not at the show.

Hey, they charged me $8 to park at San Mateo. So you did get a deal somewhere's after all.
