No doubt the caller in to a radio program got this off a political cartoon, but...
The worlds is like a survivor show made up of different countries right now.
The Mexicans job is to gather the food. The Europeans are gathering the firewood to do the cooking and the Asians are preparing the food.
The Americans are sitting at the table eating the food, saying, "You know if I stop eating this food, you guys are out of a job!"

You're right Americans do nothing but consume. If we got rid of ourselves it would serve the world better.
They could move on to doing other things than taking care of us.

Orrrrr, if we got some jobs back here and started saving and investing in ourselves it might help. I look around my house lately and see an object and ask myself, "Do I really need that?" Most of the time, the answer is "NO"! I'm sure I'm not the only one. I could have been much smarter in my purchases, but I'm sure I'm not the only one. Fortunately I'm in a position to dig myself out of the credit I have. but there are those that took it a step further.
I love how much my hero Obama has backtracked before even getting into office. Most of it I agree with, however the one thing that bothers me most is he sees no need to revisit NAFTA now. GRRRR
I laughed my *** off at Pelosi today. QUOTE ON FOX: "In the first 100 days, we are going to turn this economy around and fix the housing crisis." How in the F did she ever get to be speaker off the house? Did the democrats get sprayed with some unknown chemical that day? Is there anyone here, democrat or republican that thinks she has a clue?

They are all the same... D or R... it really doesn't matter. With all the talk about change, I'm surprised that Obama would fill his cabinet with the same old familiar faces.
NAFTA was a huge mistake and it disappoints me that our elected officials cant see past their own interests and do something good for the country.
Pelosi is full of $hit. Whats the plan to turn things around in 100 days. I would love to hear it! Talk, Talk, Talk! Thats all we are ever going to get from politicians until we fire all of them and replace them.

Re: I have to agree with this caller
I was reading an article about the guy who wrote some of the most malicious spyware. He's not a bad guy. He told about working for a company that paid him well to write innocuous little programs that checked harmless things in peoples computers. Then they'd say, "Well if you can do that, then can you add on this?" Then he'd be rewarded. Before he knew it he'd created a monster that was spying on people, invading their privacy and bringing computers to a grinding halt. He then quit.
However today he believes that if you can talk people into doing enough little bad things with a few little white lies, nearly anyone can be corrupted. That must be how it is in politics. You can start out at the local level with the best of intentions, but to get something done that you want done you compromise your ethics just this once. Well, no-one got hurt and that wasn't so bad... and it just keeps snowballing.
When you finally get to the top you are surrounded by people like yourself.
I do believe there are exceptions though.
