Delta tips?

Post by Jason P »

Well, I'm thinking about dusting off the ol' rods and maybe hitting the Delta this weekend. I haven't been on the river in almost a year. Any help? Has this warm weather helped anything out?

Thanks,

Jason

The last two weekends I went out I blanked but my buddy caught a three on a chartruese shad pointer. I asked Skeet Reese this sunday at the show what he would do in these conditions at the delta, at first he said go home, I'm pretty sure he was kidding, but he said he would stay out of the current and drag a jig real slow, He added this is actually a great time a year to pick up a trophy bass. He said this warming trend might have them a bit confused and might make the bite even tougher. I hope this can be useful to you. Let us know how you did.

I was out last weekend for no bites. Warmest water we could find was degrees or so. No bites, but I don't know that we were in productive areas. Graphed a bunch of fish schooled up on ledges at about 10-15 ft. Hope this helps! Just remember to turn off the trolling motor and go SLOW.

Bite was okay on Sat......Had probably 7 fish up to 3 lbs in 5 hours...Caught them on everything from split-shot, deep crakin', rippin', and drop-shot. Slow deep current filtered by weeds.
