oil pickup question

Post by 14tommyd »

I now have a small piece of stainless steel in my oil reserve, I choose not to share how, thus not proving my stupidity! My question: If I drain my oil reserve tank, clean and replace how do I keep from having an air pocket in my oil line? Will I need to bleed the air in the line, or is there an escape for the air?

I don't know how to do the draining, but, before you do that, try a strong magnet on a string. Most stainless steel is still magnetic.
The magnet from an old speaker should work.

What motor? Most motors pump from the tank to a reservoir on the motor. Should be OK.

thank you both for the prompt reply's. It's a 175EFI with a tank on the motor. I'll give the magnet a try, the part is very small 1/4"x1/4" and I'm petrified of getting thru the filters
