Boat permit to fish clear lake?

Post by cib11b »

I just got a new boat, Well my first boat. I have been wanting to go to clear lake but I hear you need some kind of boat inspection or what not to fish it? Where can I get it and how much does it cost.. But most importantly what is it for? Any help is appreciated.

It's a quagga/Zebra mussel inspection sticker (or paper) that you need.

Just call around to tackle shops near CL, they will tell you what to do. I'm not sure if they are actually inspecting boats now, but just incase be sure to have your boat clean and dry. Dry meaning you do not want a single drop of water in your bilge area or the livewell. Also make sure you put your big motor all the way down and let any water drian out of there. They may feel the bunks on the trailer to check if those are wet too. Get it as dry as humanly possible.

You may not get inspected at all and just end up having to sign a paper saying you have not had the boat on infested waters.
