Isn't DVL the lake requiring 3 star emissions, or 4 strokes only?

With that regulation, and no skiing or swimming, no camping, etc. it seems the developers set it up NOT to be so recreational friendly.

The tax payers got scammed again.

This is just more rigamarole from the clueless, corrupt, non fishing bureaucracy. Time to hit them with language they understand.

BOLO (be on the lookout) for a survery coming our way - we'll post it on the boards.

We're gonna give these no load dip dunk bean counters the statistics and revenue numbers they never took the time to compile. In the economic language they all so crave.

The government is very efficient when it comes to taking our money. They are just not very efficient when they owe us something.

To what end you ask?
The quality of our fishing experience. Not just here in SoCal, but across the country.

DVL is a joke, and the mismanagement is evident. No reason we need to keep this kinda thing happening elsewhere. Trout plants, Quagga mussels, Red-footed booby breasted toads, drought....

We, the fisherman, need to have a united voice against future waterways and fisheries mismanagement. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for the survey, and let's give it to the politicians in language they understand.

PS - Sorry for hijacking the post, but we need to do something.

Strange how they blame the water shortage for the lake level and never mention that they quit replenishing from the Colorado River because of the dreaded Quagga Mussel.

What a shame and waste of a beautiful and productive fishery.

What we heard last Sunday on Rod and Reel Radio

Post by JJCJR »

Our first clue was when the water district refused state water ways money to develop the recreational facilities according to plan.

Stan and I had Mike on the radio show last Sunday evening and these are a few of the comments he made:

Water is coming in from the Colorado River but is being bypassed directly to the user feeds.
He is attempting to put something together to extend the launch ramp while it's out of the water.
Perris will be so low and thus unfishable with a year
No quaggas have been found in DVL so far.
Fishing from the shoreline and off the rental boats is great.
Diamond's water level will be down below the end of the launch ramp for a minimum of at least one year.
It is still uncertain whether the chlorination stations kill all the quagga larva transported through the aqueduct.

Now this is not from Mike, but I have been told, there are slabs of preformed concrete launch ramp scattered in a field adjacent to the lake with no intentions of being used to extend the current ramp.

As we are seeing, recreation is a very low priority with the powers to be on DVL. Who are really hurt are the cities around the lake who donated land in anticipation of lake users taking advantage of the facilities in their fair cities. They are really the big losers in this program.

Call me a pessimist, but doesn't the lake stand to gain more profits by renting boats versus allowing private boat owners to launch their own boats? Therefore, where is the lake management's motivation to fixing the ramp? And if they have no motivation, why would they ever fix the ramp? Again, call me a pessimist, but I rarely see people do anything because it only benefits others.

If Hemet wants more tourism out of the lake, the city's hotels have to get on the same page. Their hotels are not boat friendly. The only one that has a few long stalls (that I know of) that would accomodate a tow vehicle and trailer (without detaching) is the Hampton Inn. But it's $170 a night to stay at that place, and there are only 4 or 5 long stalls in their lot. Last time I stayed at the Best Western, I found out the hard way that they don't provide a/c plug-in access anymore. They told me to go to the Hampton to charge up, which is what I had to do. So how do they expect fishermen to spend a weekend in Hemet to fish DV with those kinds of boat accommodations -- or lack thereof?

You're right about the hotels and surrounding businesses, they do need to get on board. Hopefully we can compile enough info from the people responsible for providing the recreational revenue -us-, and scrunch it into the kinda numbers that hurt. A recent surf/beach issue did it - it ain't my idea. But we can show what everyone is losing by the continued mismanagement. And not only here in SoCal.

PS - I'm not tryin to be a rebel rouser and all that. Just bored at work. And a passionate f*&^%$# bass fisherman!
