Thanks Steve, and great getting to actually meet you today! :)

HOLY CRAP!!! Now THAT is why I moved to the Delta!!! I didn't figure to get a DD this season - I figured I'd have to pay a lot of dues to get there. I guess fishing with my partner Cooch is really paying dividends, as I basically took the same pattern we were working yesterday and applied it today, although I applied my Southern touch (yeah, had to break out the fairy wand again darnit!).

I fished the Federation tournament today, and was paired with a great gentleman named Steve. We were working some tules in Frank's early this afternoon, and I saw what appeared to be a log. As I was lining up a pitch along side, I think it elevated a little, as all of a sudden I saw eyes and realized that it was a fish! It was the largest bass I've seen to date, and actually looked surreal.

I pitched just beyond it, and it casually circled and inspected the bait, with no intentions. It then repositioned a couple of yards further, so I gently pulled the bait and pitched it beyond and a bit forward. The fish sunk out, so I figured it was gone, but then felt some slight pressure and decided to set on it... turned out to be the fish, and was able to somehow manage to get it to the net... what a beautiful big-@ss fish!!! It was almost too big for the livewell on Steve's Ranger Z20, as it had to fit across diagonally.

Of course, being a photographer I didn't have a camera with me at all today, but fortunately there were several taken so hopefully I'll get a hold of some and get to post at some point.

Meanwhile I'm still in shock. Gotta love the Delta!!! Can't wait to get back out there again. :D

Thanks again guys!

Thanks Dale... unfortunately (or not!) I'm fishing from the back deck, so I didn't have mine and I forgot to grab the little point and shoot.

Fortunately I have some really cool people that hopefully got some good shots, and I'll share when I can.

Todd - got your message earlier, but we were out with a little celebratory dinner... sorry I missed your call.

I'm wiped after the ABA and CBF tournaments back-to-back, with little sleep and the time change in between (regardless of whether Obi believes there is an actual adjustment or not! ) , so I'm heading to get some much-needed sleep. Catch up with you this week though?

BTW - you still sure you and Mona want to run the Yuma and SD trails???

Hehehe... no bed for me - time to work to pay for the privileges!

It sure did feel great, especially in light of the fact that I started the day 2 pounds in the hole. The biggest problem was that I was worried about it all afternoon, as it was really too big for the livewell and I didn't want it to die on me. I can't imagine trying to keep a full limit (or two like at the Falcon event - no wonder they had such high mortality rates  ) going!

Stick a pig out there Paul - POSSE RULEZ! :D

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Hey Roger, congrats on your pig and on the win..I still didn't get to meet you, Joe and I had to head out as he was scheduled to fly out to China early..Good to hear you stuck a good one and picked up a win..I did my normal, one fish, thing..Of course that beats the heck out of no fish..I had a great time on the water, just didn't have a great amount of success at catching them..

Great job Roger, I'm glad I was there to witness the historic event. Better yet, it was during a tournament. And it got you first place to top it all off. Plus $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!

Did I mention that this fish was SKINNY?!?!? Sheesh, it still amazes me. Near as I can tell it was 30" in length or better... sure wish I had my cloth tape with me - I will never be without a camera and tape again, I can assure you.
