Castaic Club Challenge Sept 13th

Post by mark poulson »

Once again, the Castaic Bass Club throws down the gauntlet!
The Castaic Bass Club is again sponsoring the Manny Nunez Memorial Bass Club Challenge Tournament this year.
Mark Sept. 13 on you calender, discuss it at you club's next meeting, make plans to be there.
The qualifications for participation are simple.
Be a member in good standing of a local bass club, and come as a representative of that club.
Local means from Santa Barbara south, from Riverside west, and from San Diego north.
If you live on one of the Channel Islands, you can fish, too.
All you need to be is a legitimate representative of a bass club.
We encourage as many boats as possible to represent each club, although only the top three bags will be totalled toward the final weight for each club.
Two anglers per boat, from the same club.
There is no minimum number of boats to participate.
We've had clubs which sent only one boat, and that's fine, but it makes it hard when the one boat is fishing against three from the other clubs, so try and get as many boats as possible.
As in the past, the only costs are the local Castaic Lake launch fees, which are posted at their website. The summer rates are $12 for the boat, and $12 for the truck, so it's a total of $24 per team, if you drive up together.
The tournament will be out of the West Ramp. You'll need valid club insurance. That's the reason club membership is required
We'll post the times the gates will be open, and the time for the pre tourney meeting, as the date approaches, since we don't exactly know yet.
We'll launch as soon as the Lifeguards give us the word, and weigh in around 2:00, depending on when we launch. Since it's summer, it will be a six hour tournament. If there are more than fifteen boats (last year we had almost forty), there will be a split launch and weighin, with launch numbers drawn at the pre tourney meeting.
There will be a BBQ afterward, sponsored by the Castaic Bass Club, and a raffle for products donated by various sponsors.
So come on out and kick our tails.
Seriously, it's always a fun time, and it's great to see all the guys and gals who fish other areas, as well as the Castaic regulars who come here to fish tournaments.
Please email one of the club officers if you're participating.

Love the format and have a blast when I did fish it, but its hard to beat the Castaic club especially since they have more boats participating which puts the odds in their favor.

Yeah.. I know... waaaaaaa  Its all good.

if SOCB could get some of it's "old" members together, we could probably give you guys a run for your $.....even with less teams. After quite a few years, I am no longer with SOCB. A silly attendance rule change was made and doesn't seem to fit my busy schedule. Hopefully SOCB will show some force when it comes time. Kinda bummed I will not be there.....
