First off I own a 97 Nitro 884 Savage 18'4" with a 175 Mercury efi.
It has a Tempest 3 blade 25 pitch Prop.
When the boat has alot of gas (1/2 of tank to full) and the livewells are full, the boat is a dog and takes a bit to get on plane.
My Question is:What are some options(PROPS) to get a better hole shot?
I heard a 4 blade prop would help but I'm not educated in the use of different props.
PLEASE HELP...
THANKS, MARTIN D

Martin,
Try the new Fury by Mercury. Hands down the best prop ever made for a bassboat!!!

Re: Need Prop Help/Advice
Did this issue just start or has it been ongoing? Does the boat get on plane with relative ease with a full tank and no water in the live wells? If not, the TPI (throttle position indicator) sensor may be need to be adjusted or replaced.MartinD wrote:When the boat has alot of gas (1/2 of tank to full) and the livewells are full, the boat is a dog and takes a bit to get on plane.
If you know someone with a Trophy 4-blade 24P, see if they will let you borrow it and give that a shot with half a tank and full livewells.

Re: Need Prop Help/Advice
I have the 99EFI on a Champion, 4 blade 25 inch. The holeshot is much better. Might lose some top end, but well worth a try. Sorry, you can't borrow mine.

Todd Martin on the BBC boards is really great at on line diagnostics, if you go there. Also I have a 24p trophy if you want to borrow, a bit away from you tho in King City, but only half hr. to lake Naci or San Antonio. Danny
Any day on the lake is a great day

I have an 18' 3" procraft with 175 merc and run a 4 blade trophy 25. It shoots out of the hole and handles really good. I get 65 mph out of it easy.
