Fishing coaches needed in Chico!

Post by Steve Carson »

All,
I'm posting this now to give as much advance notice as possible.
On Saturday, May 30, at Horseshoe Lake in Chico's upper Bidwell Park, we will again be conducting the NATION'S LARGEST single-day children's fishing event, "Hooked on Fishing".
Last year, some 4,100 [!!] kids showed up to catch their first fish, and with 10,000 pounds of catfish planted in the little 5-acre pond, it's no wonder.
The massive influx of kids totally overwhelms the ability of the Chico Bass Club and Chico Area Flyfishers to help everyone who needs it.
Trust me, if we had 150 extra bass anglers show up, it would not be too many!
We don't need your money, your boat, or your expensive tackle; just your knowledge, a pair of pliers, and a smile for the next generation of anglers.
See you there!

Moderators- possible to attach this as a sticky?

Bump again.

I'll re-post this around the first of May, but wanted to make sure that nobody who wanted to help was shut out due to short notice.

For Chico locals, there will also be a repair-rigging session at the Rod-and-Gun Clubhouse at Horseshoe Lake on Thursday night May 28, where we rehabilitate the 600 loaner rods.
