If You Had A Chance, Where...

Post by big_limits »

Would you travel to? Yes a lot of us have some of the best bass fishing in the world right in our own areas but... If you had the chance to travel to one destination outside ur home state where would you go. Mexico... Baccarac, El salto etc. Texas... Falcon, Amistad etc. Florida, or elswhere? Lets hear it 8)

4 week trip - first week in the amazon hunting Peacock bass on top water, if the bite is good then I stay for another week. Then I'm off to the Florida Keys for a week of tarpon in the bays and then a week for a trip to the flats for bonefish on the fly - if I get bored during that time then I'd do a kayak trip into the everglades on a yakattack trip (http://www.evergladeskayakfishing.com/yak-trips.htm) for snook, baby tarpon, and red fish. Final week sees me off to the Kenai for salmon.

then I come home and kill myself cause it will all be downhill from there. :)

As for me, It would have to be harris chain in florida, Soaking a worm, swatting mosquitoes and poking alligators and then rolling back to the lodge to enjoy the fresh swamp air, and a good shuttle lift-off

Yes,

If its LMB I have got to go with Ray below.

Choke Canyon and Falcon then Amistad. All are not too far from eachother. Would be 1 hell of a trip.

But if its any type of fish its way down south for Peacock bass, s Peacock bass is a LM Bass on steroids, any fish that can pull the hooks off a 12 inch Zara has my vote. !!!

But Hey, there are guys all over the world that would kill for the Delta or Clear Lake when its on !!

Lake Nasser off the Nile in Egypt with home made through wire constructed swimbaits for 100lb+ predatory Nile Perch and toothy Tiger fish. Fish hard for a week and spend another week seeing the pyramids.

it's gonna happen in this life time!

After what I saw in the Elite Series last year, my first destination would be Falcon Lake for a week of fishing.

My DREAM as of know is to have enough money to purchase a home in Discovery Bay (Delta). 24 hours fishing, no need to launch and recover boats every time, diverse fishery, big tournaments, large bass, cheap cost of living (compared to Los Angeles) and best of all -
I would be getting away from the small reservoirs of SoCal. I am so sick of deep water fishing in clear reservoirs. I am not a fan of swimbait fishing so SoCal really isn't for me. I rather flip/pitch the delta with stout equipment, work shallow cranks, skip docks etc...

and CLEAR LAKE is reasonably close enough to fish regularly.

Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego etc...
I would compare the Discovery Bay average home price to places in the Riverside County area. Getting water front homes (small private lakes) in SoCal is EXPENSIVE to the point I would completely forget about it. However, Discovery Bay seems very reasonable. $500-700K would get a nice home up there. Since I am not married and have no kids, I really don't need a huge house and would even settle for some of the cheaper homes in Discovery Bay. A place where I can sleep, eat, shower, play with tackle and go fishing is all I need and want.
