Those darn Republican

Post by Marty »

It Tuesday night’s President Obama question and answer with the press, he was asked the question – What is the difference in $2.3 trillion size of the debt between the Administration's estimates and the Congressional Budget Office. The question when on with "Some Republicans called your budget the most irresponsible budget in American history."

President Obama may be sitting in the Oval Office and he might have promised to open the post-partisan era, but his answer was:

First of all, I suspect that some of those Republican critics have a short memory, because as I recall, I'm inheriting a $1.3 trillion deficit from them. (My Note – it was actually, if you round up - $700 Billion).

Was it Republican fault that passed the budget?

To understand we need to return to January 3, 2007 when John Boehner (D-OH) was the Minority leader and Nancy Pelosi (R-CA) became the House Speaker? And the Republican controlled the House and the Senate? And they have controlled the budget committees for the past two years? Where have I been?

Let us not forget those Republican Chairmen of the House and Senate Budget Committees, U.S. Rep. John Spratt (R-SC) and Sen. Kent Conrad (R-ND).

So the "$1.3 trillion deficit (actually, if you round up - $700 Billion) was adopted by the Republican - controlled Congress? Well then if it was not those Congressional Republicans then who could President Obama have been talking about?

Side Note to follow what President Obama was thinking - The A.I.G. contracts were put in place while Republicans Barney Frank (R-MA) and Chris Dodd (R-CT) were in control of the House and Senate Banking Committees.

Sleep sound tonight your in good hands!

Your right, the Republicans have no responsibility for the financial crisis we're in. They and the former administration gave us a sound fiscal and domestic policy. Their foriegn policy was brilliant and quite frankly we could only wish now that Bush could've had another four more years in office.

No – Bush in office for other 4 years is just is bad as we have now. Both are spending like they are drunken sailors on leave. If fact even if OMcCain was in office he would be spending at the same rate. The only chance we had would have been if OMcCain was elected then died. (That would have really piss off Greg).

What needs to be done is change the makeup of congress in 2010 – where they are fighting each other that way we don’t get screwed.

I'm just going to scratch as much money together as I can then move to Mexico and become an expatriate.

If you think things are bad now go back 100 years or more and look at the dirty details. Nothing has gotten worse in reality it's exactly the same, and probably will never change.

Hell maybe China, the weather suits me a little better even if the food doesn't. Plus I might get a line on cheap rods made there that sell for hundreds here.

Steve Forbes in '12!

I heard him speak at the Cow Palace on Tuesday and he is my man... if he would only run. Flat tax-17%, No Tax on first 45K, businesses can write off 100% of equipment cost in the year purchased, business losses can be carried over to be applied against future profits... BAMMMM, the economy starts turning around!

Instead we get BHO's plan to increase taxes on those who have the ability to effect this economy (business owners), and give that money to those who have no chance of creating jobs or economic growth.

IMO, both the Dem's and Repub's are equally responsible for this mess. The question is, are we doing the right thing NOW, or are we just making a bad situation worse. I think the latter.

BTW, I am no longer a Republican... I officially changed it to Independant.

Forbes 12' sure why not. Flat tax, while I would support it I don't think Congress would, Republican or Democrat. A fair tax code has never been a top priority and there is no incentive to start one now (at least in the governments eyes).

By the way I saw him too (forbes), I was impressed by what he had to say.

I doubt you even have a clue what a true Libertarian is, let alone be one.

Thanks Marty,
I'm honored that you were able to tear yourself away from disrespecting our proud flag and thumbing you nose at federal law to post....What's the plan for this weekend? Are you just going to hang around the trailer park and listen to re-runs of Pawn Vanity on the radio so you have more talking points for next week, or are you going host a neo-conservative flag burning, 'cause after all the only REAL American's are conservative Republicans that only recognize the laws they agree with, feel they have the right to twist the constitution to further their agenda, have no problem with torture and believe that illegal wars of aggression are "brilliant foreign policy"

The folks that think G.W.'s foreign policy was "brilliant" must think that Hitler's foreign policy was sheer genius.....

Dan,
He was by far the best speaker of the day IMO. Some of the other speakers were good but overall I felt like I was watching an infomercial for the products they were trying to sell.

The whole "get Motivated" seminar was full of pro-military, pro-country, pro-God stuff. Im OK with it but... do they even know where they are... Its San Francisco! Non of that stuff flys in SF.
