Now I know why Rich Theil Has the.......

Post by DeltaDan »

Now I know why BrothA Theil Has the Oilest Bilge on the Delta. -- Outside of some "OLD" wrecks in Fisherman's Cut.

The first time I went to refil my oil resivor from the 2.5 gallon jug- I spilled ..... But only a 'lil bit.

Thanks So Freakin' Much to BrothA's KB, Buchholz and Lozano .... And most of all to My Wife ~ who puts up with so much of me ~ Mostly on money we don't have and need to spend when we need a back lawn !! Image (The dog craps just fine back there now w/o one. )

After~

Now where are the winds and the biggest tidal eddy pockets !! Image

PS- If Anyone happens to have a spare/unused center "plug" laying around for a Merc V-6 Oil tank. I would love to trade you some baits or time on the water in exchange so I can get rid of my "Peg Leg"

That should make filling the oil a little easier. :D Geez, seems kind of crazy for it to be tucked back in there like that.

I use a long plastic funnel designed for tranny fluid. The top is long so I can rotate the jug without worrying about the deck. It doesn't have far to go so no splashing either.

FCSks Dan,

Picture One, On the Ranger the oil Reserve is reverse to the Hammer Boat.

For your Okie style Plug,,,,What did you do, go into the kitchen and take the plug off one of the stools at the table. Bet it was your chair too...figuring your wife or kids wouldn't sit in it and notice it SCATCH"IN the floor up..

Believe it or not -- After I picked up the boys from school today ... I took Your's and Gene's advise and went and looked on 4th St.

Holy Snikeys !! Oakley DOES HAVE A HARDWARE STORE !! ~ And a Mighty fine one at that ! Image

I showed the kind lady what I had- and asked her where I might find a plug to fit over it. She told me upstairs on Isle 14 - Right next to the Canes. -- Straight out from the Handicap Elevator !! ~~ AND SHE WAS RIGHT !!

Dayum BrothA Richie ~ you know EVERYTHING for the Delta BrothA (both on the water and off) with No Need EVER for a GPS !! Image

I'll be out at 0600 tommorow from BB as soon as they lift the gate ~ and I will be keepin' a keen eye out for you on the water BrothA. Image

civicrr - The oil Res was there for external oil fill. I had to put in a 3ard TM battery in that spot ~ and relocated the tank. Now it will no longer fill externally unfortunately -- So I got one of them long tubes today myself as well to 'filler up. And the one gallon Jugs are much easier to pour from than dem 2.5 gallon jerry~can's.

Ahhh, that makes sense now. Did you go to a 36volt TM from a 24volt? Got a 82lb Motorguide on the 520. Sometimes it is a struggle with the tide & wind. If you could, shoot me a PM. Would like to know what you went from & to. Better for the weeds, etc. Thanks.

So keep a one gallon jug for filling, and just refill it from the 2.5... I was doing just that, buying my bulk oil from Anglers, but it seems there aren't many places up here to get the bulk.

Oh, and the hardware store there rocks - really well stocked!

... the Mercury Outboard oil reservoir parts are available at boats.net or crowleymarine.com Go to Mercury Outboard Parts then enter your year/model (call toll free for model number cross-ref for their list using your Merc Serial Number) then go to Oil Injection Components section .... you will see the RESERVOIR-OIL and also CAP ASSY as separate items .. cap is $13.08. crowleymarine has the parts diagram pics with numbers for parts ... I use these sites a lot for this kinda stuff .....

Hope this helps ....

Dan Curtis
Have some fun out there .... Enjoy that time on the water !!
