rippin/crankin rod?

Post by bassmaster89 »

Im look for a powell rod that would be good for small jerkbaits and shallow crankbaits. For example pointer 100's, slender pointer 97's, and BDS 4's. Graphite or glass? Which one is more sensitive?

Thanks.

The Powell 702CB Glass and the 703CB Glass is what you're looking for. I'm using both ... the 702CB Glass is slightly lighter both in action and in weight ... that's probably what you're looking for.

An alternative if you're willing to get something else is the 7' Medium action Fenwick Techna AV casting rod. Paired with a Chronarch MG or similar, you'll have an EXTREMELY light weight rod that will be extremely sensitive. You can buy this rod on occasion on Buy.com for ~$150 ...

I just got the Powell 706cb and it is an excellent rippin rod. I have also been using it for the BDS series cranks.
