FORT PIERCE — A 39-year-old Fort Pierce man accused of hurling a fish from the North Bridge and allegedly hitting a boater on the head, faces felony and misdemeanor charges, according to an arrest affidavit from the Fort Pierce Police Department.
Richard Hughes Corley, of the 3200 block of South U.S. 1, was fishing on the North Bridge late Saturday and, along with several others on the bridge, asked a man to move his boat, the report said.
The man said he told the people on the bridge he was not going to move his boat. He then alleges he heard Corley say, “I will make him move his boat.â€

$15,000 baile is a bitter pill to swallow, but maybe next time he'll think before he does something stupid like that again.
Boaters have just as much right to fish there as shore fishermen.

With all the respect and consideration talk over the past few, this story should keep the coals going....
Whether on shore, bridge, or cherry rig - the obvious question to me is why waste the $$ tossin a swimbait - or in this guy's case bait or dinner - when some simple lead has the same effect???
I bet I am a bunch more accurate with a 3oz pyramid sinker than any kinda line/leader or swimbait out there. One shot, one kill.

What's the fine if you lob a 12" swim bait at someone who is encroaching and you bury a hook in the side of their face? Its a good tool but if the wind picks up at the right time...LOOK OUT!!

Ok, let's get serious here. We all have a right to the same stretch of water. If another guy is fishing "YOUR WATER" you do not have the right to throw a fish, sinker or lure at him. That is just stupid. Let's not even get into the legal ramifications.
If you can't handle a situation like this, maybe you should take up golf. Then, when you get pissed off, you can go wrap your club around a freak'n tree.

And right when that club finishes it's spin around the tree, the head detaches from the shaft and flies straight into your skull at 120 MPH.Smile_n_Jax wrote:Ok, let's get serious here.

I have a buddy that will you give you a 20K answer to the golf club question. When I was living back in AL and in college, 5 of us went to play golf at the university course. My roommate got ticked cause he was a beginner and was shooting worm burners all over the place. He took a 7 iron and hit the rail on the golf cart. The club head wraps around and breaks off. All I see is his leg kick backwards and he says I need to go to the hospital. He is standing there with half a club and the grip in his hand, the other 7 inches of club burried in his thigh and the head of a 7 iron poking out. The surgery to remove it was 20K. He is still scared of 7 irons.

I know guys that use the flying swimbait as a tool to protect water. But at what cost? I am guessing that a guy that uses this tool and advocates it, would think different of it if he hurts someone or worse gets charged with assault... If someone wants the spot that bad they can have it...

I would say jail time at least six months.DL wrote:What's the fine if you lob a 12" swim bait at someone who is encroaching and you bury a hook in the side of their face? Its a good tool but if the wind picks up at the right time...LOOK OUT!!

Most tournament guys know not to crowd other guys. But recreational fisherman would probably look up their nearest ranger or sherrif and file a complaint. Even though I'm sure no one really wants to hit someone, a gust of wind at the wrong time can spell disaster..
