US OPEN 2009

Post by j10b »

Who is going? Anyone have any info of interest?

Looks like the big bass and stringer payouts increased and the Entry Fees Decreased.

I'm sure this will be another post down the line but I would love to see Shaun Bailey win this event.

I wish it was a differant format but I did ride and watch him fish one day at Clear Lake and what a great attitude. That impressed me more than his fishing which was impressive.

Good luck Shaun get rid of that second place!

I was planning on fishing it until I realized it conflicts with the 2nd Central Open on Rayburn.... Bummed, never got to fish a US OPEN yet, keep hearing great things, but already put in entries to BASS for this year.

Give some props to WON for lowering the entry fee to 1600.... Good move.

How did you get in? I called first thing to enter 2 of them and was like 300th on the list. I'm only doing one more BASS from the back even though they offered to let me use my boat if someone dropped out.

I know WON BASS May not like this but Im guessing they would get more AAA's if they would give them some exposure. George Kramer, didn't even ask my NAME after I won. I was going to fish the BASS OPEN so I wasnt going to be at the US OPEN this year but I am rethinking it.

So as my boat is 1400 miles away I would have to fish as an AAA again. I just wanted to make the point that until you ask an AAA why other AAA's should fish you are always going to be short on AAA's. Seemed pretty lame that there was plenty of chances and its not like the paper was so packed with stuff a paragraph on the AAA's side of things would take up too much room.

I think Shawn, Justin and John, have it right. USE YOUR AAA. I just think 90% of the guys heard that the first time when Justin was saying it at the Awards Banquet.

I do look forward to a couple more big bass again though. I like the new 2000 per. Maybe a person can weigh more than one fish this year?

if the job situation stays stable. Would love to fish on the pointy end for this derby, but its not in the cards for 2009.

I got in via a sponsor slot.... From my understanding they are virtually impossible to get into without one.... Hopefully they come back out west, because if thats the case, its easy for everyone to get in.

If i had used my top 30 from the Co side I would have gotten in but i had no intention of fishing the last one. Now I am fishing it from the back. I really didnt want to but someone told me its a lot of fun and heck they can run their boat in brackish water.

Good Job WON Bass. Your numbers should be back up to where they're supposed to be.
It might be lonely at the Top, but it's a bitch, at the Bottom !

J10B,

The last one at the basin is going to be an interesting one. I have heard that place is fun to fish, but the intercoastal water way is something I'm not too use too...... Have a feeling its going to be a bit more extreme than the Delta..... Thank god for GPS...

Plus..... how can one compete with Dobyns when decided he is sick of 2nd's?? I cant wait to see this years US Open battle go down, it should be a good one, like they all are.

Yeah I had no intention of doing the Back again, but someone talked me into it. Im going for the topwater and wake baits. Hint hint.
I'll give the US OPEN a shot if I am still here. Last hurrah from the back. I'll see ya at the basin though. And it is a lot worse than the delta. You may get eaten by a local. I can say that cuz my home is in LA. Bit north of Morgan city But still .
