Making swimbaits?
I'm thinking of tinkering around and trying to make some wood swimbaits. My question is what types of woods are people useing to make them. I know balsa is used alot with crankbaits cause it floats, but are there better woods if i want a sinking bait? Any help would be great, thanks guys!

Basswood can be found at Michaels crafts and is good for carving baits and it sinks. There is a lot of good info on "thewired angler.com" about making baits. Good luck.

Try swimbaitnation.com they are good folks in there that will point you in the right direction. Basswood is a good strong choice in wood, it doesnt sink as far as I know but add some lead and you can get it to stand on the front trebel if you want. It's all about experience and testing to find out what you like. Wood blocks arent expensive test some out and see what YOU like to use.

Use the search feature to look for what wood to use, or other materials. People there also use PVC and foam.
