Callville Bay, NV – The hottest team in Nevada continued to dominate the field as they WON Bass Nevada Region crowns a new team as Anglers of the Year.

In a year that saw them dominate not only the WON Bass circuit but every circuit in the area, the team of Pat Donoho and Robert (Bobby) Ellis finished an outstanding year as our new champions. After finishing third in 2007 and sixth in 2008 Pat and Bobby put in a season that rivals any team in any circuit.

In the first tournament of the season held at Lake Mead in November Pat and Bobby finished second just 2oz. out of first place. Who knew this was just the start of a magnificent year on the water. After being blown off Lake Mead in December the second tournament was held on January10. Maybe it was the layoff but Pat and Bobby only managed a third place finish.

The third tournament which was the December makeup date was held on January 11th following their third place finish. I guess finishing third upset them because the proceeded to go out on Sunday and blow everybody away winning the tournament by over two lbs. and catching the second biggest fish of the tournament.

The fourth tournament in February was a little more difficult. Having either won or placed in the top five in other tournament circuits between our tournaments, Pat and Bobby had their work cut out for them. When it was all said and done, Pat and bobby won the February tournament by four one hundredths of and ounce over the second place team. They did manage to bring in the big fish of the tournament weighing 3.67 lbs.

In the first of back to back tournaments on Lake Mohave in March Pat and Bobby had their worst day to date as they could only manage a sixth place finish. Their sixth place weight was almost eight pounds less than the tournament winner. Still a sixth place finish kept them in the AOY race with only two tournaments remaining.

On the second Lake Mohave tournament they moved up on the tournament leader board by place fourth. That was over six pounds off the leader. Even with their fourth place finish they lost some ground to the second place team of Danny Branscum and Troy Duncan thus putting the pressure on them to place high in the final tournament of the year.

As Pat and Bobby continued to fish well in the other circuits it all came down to the April 25th tournament to see if the would win their first WON Bass Nevada Anglers of the Year. On a day where there were 17 out of 20 limits caught it was going to be close. When Troy Duncan came to the scales with the season leading seventh five fish limit the suspense was over. Even with his limit Danny and Troy could not over take Pat and Bobby. With their second place finish Pat and Bobby finished 14 points ahead of second place Danny and Troy.

At the awards presentation, Pat and Bobby were crowned the 2009 WON Bass Nevada Anglers of the Year and presented a custom made AOY trophy, designed by Blue Ribbon Trophies of Las Vegas, from the circuit. Also presented was the “Big Fishâ€
