Lake Roosevelt best place to launch?

Post by tmulliken »

Heading to Roosevelt this sat. Never been there. Any tips on best launch and what I might expect in the way of a bite this time of year. Temps in the low 100's (air) don't know about water temp. Also, any quagga issues? appreciate the help.

I would launch at the Cholla ramp near Tonto Basin. I fished it friday from first light until noon and water temps were 74 degrees. Had a good topwater bite for the first two hours then jerkbaits and senkos. Tonto creek end has lots of color but some of the other parts of the lake you could see down ten feet and watch the bass slurp in the senko. Caught over 20 fish with 4 overs for two of us. We have mussels in Pleasant and probably in all the lakes by now but no inspections or other futile attempts to stop mother nature. Have a great trip.

Is there a dock at the Cholla ramp? Sometimes have to launch by myself and need a dock. Can't really tell from Global earth.

Nice aluminum dock and plenty of parking on the top. If you launch early you can park right at the dock.
