Record Shasta spot?

Post by jsc11700 »

Bassmaster just ran an article on their website about a potential record spot caught on Shasta, but like most other record fish stories lately this one has a twist. No, it was not a desperate trophy hunter fabricating a story, or snagged off a bed. This time it was failed to be weighed on a certified scale. I just want to commend the young man for considering the well being of the fish by letting it go rather than the prestige of the record.

Good job Randy, it is a shame he couldn't get it weighed officially, but he put the well being of the fish first..You have to admire that, I don't care who you are..

Awesome spot! Hard to believe the Shasta Record is less than nine pounds! Next WR is going to be from McClure or New Melones!

You forgot Collins lake

Collins produced a 9.83 spot last year - same weight as the state record smallie from Pardee last year also. The spot was released! I have not heard about another 10 from Pine Flat. When did that happen?

Does anyone actualy know the Record for Shasta? Spot or Largemouth. I think the largemouth record is something crazy like 17#. I could be wrong. The spot record has got to be over 9?
