I use 15 BG mono, and the old version Chug Bug. The big bug works good too. You can always hunk the premium baits as well, I have a few imports. :D

I did a test on various poppers some years ago, when I was entirely in to hunking them.

Don's Splash it did pretty well even against my Ricos.

But I like the Chug Bug, because it easily switches between pop, bloop, spit, and walking the dog. You can really mix up the retrieve till you get bit.

I haven't tried the new bugs out since Rapala bought Storm, and created new molds for the whole line up of baits. How the new ones perform I don't know.

Chug Bugs--one of my favorites. I didn't know they created new molds after Storm was bought out. After seeing the newer Rapala color schemes I stocked up on the older Storm colors...

I like the lucky craft gun fish. 17lb P-line mono on a 754 CB glass powel. You can pop it and walk it all in one. I fished with a guy who was throwing a Rago (I think), made me a beliver but I wasnt gunna chase the bite.

Persuader, they come in two sizes...smaller one in flat calm water and larger one in other conditions...larger can can be walked and spits water side to side though side slits. I use 17# Big Game.

I'm a big fan of the old lucky craft S8 popper, however they don't make em any more so I have moved on to the Ricos and R2S bubble poppers.

I use the River 2 Sea Poppers, the ones that spit water on their side. They have two sizes – a big one and their really big one. I throw them on braid for I can get the popper way back into the tulles and still retrieve back.

But it is still too early for poppers on the Delta and any one using them now is wasting their time.

Persuader makes a good walk n popper. The large size has been very effective. I use 14lb mono. I find if I use the braid I tend to pull it straight out of the fish's mouth.

I've had a few strike on the delta with a popper so far. Problem for me is there's too many damn weeds to throw them.

Cliff gave me a couple of the Persuader Poppers a year ago and I have caught a lot of fish on them. Especially the black one at last light.

PERSUADER Hands down !! the larger size will do it all walk, pop, spit, and on 50# power pro i have thrown it way back past the blow throughs brought it through the tules and occasionally hooked a pig. They are tough baits too i have fished the "persuader only" tourney the past 2 yrs and still have the one i got in my grab bag from cliff the first year. maybe this year will be my year to win it on that great top water bait . Give it a try you will love it. - Lancer

If'n ya ain't think bout or tossin' poppers that go "bloop" ! Yer missing a great bite! Just ask the ole river legend Dee Thomas! Ricos, Iovinno Splash It's, Yamamoto Sugoi Pops and R2S D88 BABY! If'n it don't go Bloop Bloop, it's a piece of POOP!
