Transom Failure

Post by D »

I have mentioned this story before TRACKER/NITRO boat owners beware also those insured with FOREMOST beware. Without trying to make a long story I had transom failure on my tracker/nitro boat, I hit a log on Pedro that made an apparent lousey factory job raise its ugly head as I result the insurance company told me to pound sand after many years with no claims and Tracker laughed. So I am in the market for a boat, I find one in SO. Ca. just hapens to be a Nitro may not be to bad its an 05 fits me fine. So I am driving by the shop I had taken my boat toand saw a Nitro parked there. I went into the shop letting the guys know I might be back in business when I was told the Nitro in the lot an 05 model had transom failure, to say the least I was shocked and I understand that Tracker told that boat owner to pound sand although I dont know the whole story anyway I wont be ever buying a wood stringer transom boat as its destined to fail at some point And foran 05 model to go that has alot to say about mfg. quality.

I had a transom problem years ago (rotten wood), my insurance rep. said that it was not caused by an accident they could do nothing. But he said that if i had hit a log or an underwater island thay could cover it. I would think that because a log was involved you should be covered. Did you try the insurance comish?
Good luck!

You hit an obstruction that caused the failure. Your insurance co is screwing you. Sorry to say but you need to get a lawyer. I can almost guarantee the insurance adjuster is not an expert in boat manufacturing and is not qualified. Bottom line they insured the boat and a collision caused the failure. You could not see inside the transom and neither could they. Don't back down I see this on the Automotive collision side everyday. If you know what you are talking about and talk to the right person 9 times out of 10 they take care of it. If not you should seek legal advise.

Mike, go with Fish On!

I have filed a claim and am a firm believer in them! 110% without a doubt took care of me faster than any other insurance company I have heard of!

These guys have a policy for us bass fisherman and tourney reimbursment as well!

I have a 95 488 , and pay about 480,year with 7k in equipment loss/theft etc.-Progressive , you'll get good/bad stories about them , but Delta took out my lower unit , and Clearlake/docks popped a hole in gunwale , both covered-no fault.
